I'm on half the Carbain Cricket Podcast, Mashel Sainte Patrick, and this is the post-West Indies Sri Lanka test series player ratings. I'm not sorry. Can get that right. This is the post-West Indies Sri Lanka test series player rating show. Whatever. Did that even make sense? But you already know what it means on the team. If you've clicked on this, you know what you're getting. You're here to see what are the quintessential player ratings CCP style. We haven't done some of these in a while. There's reasons why, but I just felt like dropping this today. Santel can I will be back tomorrow dropping some content for you to look out for that. We're definitely going to hit. We're definitely going to hit 20 K plus before the end of the year. God willing. Let's move though. So play a rating show. You don't need any descriptions to how to play a ratings goals. We look back at the test series and we just say, well, how did how did people perform? Did they do their team? Et cetera, et cetera. So without any further ado, let's just jump straight into it. We're going to start with John Campbell. Now, remember, people, the context for this is lots of the batters in the team averaged really well.

3:03Better than their career averages. Better than their first class averages, because you've done already that in Antigua, they're going to serve up flat like pancake pitches. So it's the one region in the Caribbean where if you've got any hint of batting ability, you're supposed to make the most of it in Antigua. Obviously, we've got a bit of bowling attack, then Sri Lanka, but a lot of our batters saw the flat pitches and said, yeah, me that, and that is it. And they cashed in. John Campbell being one of them. So John Campbell ended the series with, he batted three innings. A lot of people only batted two. He batted three innings, scored 162 runs at an average of 81 with two test match 50s in amongst that. So we had the score of, let me just find his scores again. He had the score of 39, 72 and 51, not out across the three test matches.

4:03That now means that John Campbell has five test match 50s in his 30 test match career and 100s. His average in test cricket, when we round up, obviously, his average is now 28. Wah, wah, guanjuan, wah, big 28. I'm being serious as well. Wah, wah, wah, wah, big 28 for John Campbell. People are guan, good, you know. But yeah, 81 was his average in this series. And what did we give John Campbell? He had another 100 run, open in partnership with Brandon King in the last innings in the second test. So that's a positive as well. How can you, I mean, obviously, the way you got out for 72. How did you get out in the first test again? That's where that was a dance out as well. Yeah, no, his first two dismissals were done. John Campbell must be the most frustrating battle we've got in the Caribbean. The man looks good and all the way up to 25,

5:07he looks completely comfortable, looks completely composed, leaves the ball well. Soon as he gets to 25, it's like, it's like Duffy is haunting him or something. Between 25 and 40, if you can get through that 25 to 40 period, you think he's gonna be all right. But I think in the first test, did he not hold out too long on? And in the second test for the 72, they set a clear track for him. And he said, yeah, let me take on the track all the same. And if I'm not, I think you got caught in deep square leg or something. So the way he got out in both tests, we should technically take some marks of him because that weren't good. But a man average 81 in the test series, so how can I really, I don't even put his name up on the screen, how can I really and truly cuss man when the average 81 in the series? So we're gonna give John Campbell seven and a half with some points coming off because of how he got dismissed for the 39 and 72. I remember what Nick said. Nick said everybody needs to average over 50 for the year. So Campbell starts within the average of 81

6:08in the calendar year of 2026. Let's move to Brandon King, Brandon King up next. So Brandon King ended the test series with an average of 50 believe it or not. Obviously he back at three innings as well. He only scored 99 runs in the three innings with scores of 31 in the first test, 17 and then 51 not out. And obviously that 51 not out did a lot of heavy lifting for him in terms of making him in the series with an average of 50. And this is why sometimes numbers can be misleading because it wasn't a great test series for Brandon King. But by scoring that 51 not out in the last innings when we got to like 101 before we should before the players should cans and said, let's take the draw. That basically is a time extension. You know I'm like out runner. I'm showing my age here. I'm big uncle out here, but you know the computer game out runner. I'm sure there's an equivalent in the modern parlance, but there was a computer game called OutRunner where like a mob of people are chasing you. So in West Indies like a mob of uncles. And then you get to the checkpoint and it gives you a time extension

7:09to be able to get to the next checkpoint. That 51 not out from Brandon King was a time he reached the time extension checkpoint. So he's good. Brandon King's test match average right now after that test match series is 31. He's had eight test matches and he's got four 50s in eight test matches at an average of 31. Wah. Wah. That is it. That is it. But this test series though, we're going to give Brandon King five and a half out of 10. And does that feel harsh? Get in the comments below. Let me know if that's harsh. Maybe you're saying, nah, I'm actually got a 50, 150 if Brandon King for the rest of his career gets 150 every three test match innings, then he's going on good, right? But it just didn't feel fully comfortable. Yeah. So at the moment Brandon is averaging 150 every three and a half test match innings. He's about a 15 test match innings and he's got four 50s. So it's not actually a bad conversion rate. Should I say six out now five and a half?

8:11I still think it's five and a half. Five and I think I think um, players call saved him. Did it not or DRS or something saved him in that 51 out? So we're going to give him five and a half out of 10. Cavim Hodg. Cavim Hodg. Let's go back to Cavim Hodg. So Cavim Hodg, two innings, 47 runs, average 24. That's so he got 16 in the first test and he scored 31 off like 116 balls in the first innings of the second test. Some people say that 31 was critical because he soaked up loads of balls. It was very scratchy, very uncomfortable, very, it was great, breathway, Esk. He also took two wickets, by the way, in that second test. But he's not in the team. Like he's betting at number three. So the two wickets are a bonus. Maybe I'll give him some points for that. But he averaged this in the series. He averages 24. So at the moment, Cavim Hodg has played 15 test matches. He's averaging 28,

9:12200s and 350s. But this test, basically, Cavim Hodg has come out of this test match as being the only player in the start in line up, like the last, and Anderson Philip, in the last test match line up, he is the only batter in the lineup where you put a question mark over him. I still think he'll play versus Pakistan, but there is a question mark over him. Yes, 116 balls, that 31, but it was too scratchy for me. Yes, so cup time, and I hear all that, but I still felt it was a bit too scratchy. So Cavim Hodg, the two wickets notwithstanding, in the second test, four and a half out of 10. But Brandon King got five and a half. Yeah. Do I give a number three, do I give a number three, better marks because they took two wickets, even though that's not their primary. Because of the two wickets, now four and a half out of 10, get the comments below, let me know if you agree or disagree. Right, number four,

10:12who's number four? Amé Jango, so actually just realized I spoke of him Hodg's name wrong, Cavim Hidge. We move though, still. Amé Jango, so Amé Jango came in because Shayholt was injured in the first test, and he completely cashed in with a double century, test match double century, 233, he scored in that first test, and then I think he got out for nine in the second test, at the end of the day, man scored a double ton. It don't matter that he got out for nine in the second test, highest run score in the team because of that double ton, 10 out of 10. If you come in as a replacement for Shayholt, you got heavy boots to fill, right? And then if you then reply with a double ton, and you only back two times in the whole test match, you've done your job and then some. So Amé Jango, 10 out of 10, his test match average after four innings is 68. Oh, what a blah, aah, wow, that is it. That is it. We got pure man, averaging over 28 in the team.

11:13Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. 68 test match average after four innings, big up Jango, 10 out of 10. Who's number five? Who better? We'll go Shayholt first and we'll go to Josh De Silva. So Shayholt came back for the second test after his injury, where is he? Shayholt came back for the second test after his injury and batted once scored 112 runs, kept wicket for five sessions. And in fact, five sessions in Sriankas first innings, then I think it was maybe two and a half sessions in their second innings, produced a worldy stumping. One innings and he scored 112, 10 out of 10. 10 out of 10 for Shayholt because man had to field for five sessions and then came out to bat and say, let me just put down a young 112 because I can, okay? That means that Shay Diego hopes test match average right now. He's moved it up to 28. That is it. That is it.

12:13That is it. 28. Shayholt now has five test match 100s and six test match 50s. The latter, the latter day Renaissance for Shayholt in test cricket. Since his return is now scored 300s, I don't even know how many 50s actually. I'll need to go back and look to see how many 50s by certainly scored 300s, one in India, one in New Zealand and now one at home versus Sriankas. So Shayh is doing his job 10 out of 10. Josh De Silva, this is going to be harsh. Please don't take this personally, people. So Josh De Silva obviously played in a first test, because, well, did he play because Shayh was injured? Who knows? We'll never know. I'm sure Jango was in because Shayh was out and Shayh would have played as a better. Josh scored 20 at his only at bat, but then behind the stumps, he dropped three catches, one out of 10. One out of 10 for Josh. And the thing is, I'm sure Josh will watch this or maybe other people will watch this and clip it and say, nah, stink London man, how can he do that?

13:15But come on, we have, thing is, it's not personal out here. We just got to call it as it is. Josh himself will be like, boy, I didn't take advantage of my opportunity. But you don't know already that I'm in favor of Josh playing the next test match. If it was down to me, Josh would play the next test match against Pakistan and Shayh wouldn't have the gloves. So it's not personal, but that was a one out of 10 performance. The three catches was a real negative mark on his name. I'm not sold down on the 20, because remember, only Ross and Chase and Amher Jango really scored in that first test match. And yeah, only Ross and Chase and Amher Jango did all the heavy lifting in that first test match. So I'll give him one out of 10 for the 20. Number six is Justin Green.

14:33Call it 555 and 55 seconds. Hit it! When you need a team that will do whatever it takes on game day, it matters where you stay. Hilton, for this day. Justin Graves, suggesting Graves scored 183 runs at an average of 92. Obviously that big 180 in the second test. He also took four wickets at 21 at an economy of 2.82. What? What? Big all rounder. This is why Jason Holder can't get back in the team as an all rounder. So Justin Graves now in his test match career has played 16 test matches in the averages 34. 16 test matches and average. And he's got an average of 35. Justin Graves test match average right now

15:34puts him among the pantheon of modern day wasting these grates in the depth. He is the greatest in the down bad era. 16 test matches in the averages 34. Does say 35. 34. We may never see the likes again. Big Justin Graves, 350 in his 30 innings. And with the ball, he's got 24 test match wickets at 36. What? What? You turn man now. Now that's seriously good though. Seriously, 34. 34 with the bat and 36 with the ball 24 wickets at 36. Justin Graves is doing his thing 10 out of 10. Let's go to Captain Thanos. Okay, so Captain Thanos, first and foremost, first test match series win for Captain Thanos. He ended the series with 217 runs and average of 109. And with the ball, he took two wickets. Two wickets at 78. They weren't really, I mean,

16:35Hodg took two wickets at 35. He wasn't really a spinning pitch like that. Two wickets at 78, economy four. There is a question mark. Maybe Santelke and I need to do a video on it. But there is a question mark to be had about Rossston's position. Like Rossston is a captain. So we're not saying Rossston should be in the team. Of course, you'll be in the team. But there definitely is a question mark around what is the best place for Rossston in the team? Because in test match cricket, is Rossston good enough to be the front line spinner? And I think the answer is no. But then where else do you put him in the team? But now he scored, what do you score again? Now he scored 194 to six away from a double ton. Because he scored that 194, his best ever score. Does that mean, does that mean that we can consider Rossston a top order bat? Is do we reconfigure the top order with Rossston? Like, it's having to do some thinking about it because I'm not convinced. So when we play Pakistan in Trinidad, for example, I'm not convinced that Rossston should be going

17:35into that game as the front line spinner. Jamel Warikon should probably come back into the team in Trinidad. If the pitch is take any kind of spin, Warikon has to play. But it's whether you see Rossston as a number seven or rounder. And then you drop a Cima for Jamel Warikon. So there's question marks around that. But in the context of this series, Rossston marshalled the team well. He scored a 194. I think 23 was his other score. He did his job as captain 10 out of 10. Lots of people will be saying, match, how can you keep giving loads of 10 out of 10? But what do you want me to do instead? Kimar Roach. I don't even need to read out anything 10 out of 10. Played one test match, six wickets at 14. Six wickets at 14. In one test match, obviously two innings, both two innings, six wickets at 14. 23 overs, six for 83 across the first test match. And average of 14. And it also took him to 300 test wickets overall.

18:36100 out of 10. Kimar Roach, modern day legend in this thing. 100 out of 10 for Kimar Roach. Enough said. We don't need to say no more about slider. We respect the legends in this thing. Have to respect him. Auzari Joseph. Auzari Joseph, six wickets at 36. I think Auzari was still rusty. He bowled some good spells. Definitely bowled some good spells. Was quite expensive. His economy across the two test matches was 4.5. I still think he's, I still think it's clear. But Auzari is down on reps. Certainly across the four day game. So I think he's, we have to also look at Auzari in the context of his return in back to work. So to speak. And in that context, it's a fair return. Okay, six wickets at, on dead pitches as well. So six wickets at 36. It's a fair return. I mean, Jane Seals took seven.

19:36She and my job took seven. So it's not like Kimar Roach took six in one match. So it's not like everyone else is taking significantly more than him. So I think that's a. I didn't like that. There was a point in the, was it the second test where he was getting vex on the field? I didn't like that. And I really think he needs to take that out of his game. Maybe that's what makes him tick. But I really think he needs to take that out of his game. But he didn't do too much wrong overall. Seven out of 10. Couple of the anteons will come for me for that. Shamar Joseph seven wickets at 35. So only a tad better than now. Zari he was, he was too expensive as well. He went at 4.3s. But an in fairness, if we look at strike rate. I was, Zari took his wickets a bit of strike rate than Shamar and Jaden Seals actually. But it's just that Jaden and Shamar took more wickets overall. Shamar Joseph seven wickets at 35. I mean, Shamar,

20:37Shamar had to take the new ball in the second test because Kimar Roach wasn't there. Maybe they're expensive because ultimately Kimar Roach offers better control than all of them. I feel like, I feel like if I'm giving Zari seven, I should also be giving Shamar seven. Yeah, I don't think there's a, to the natural eye, it will look like Shamar Joseph bold better than Zari because Shamar took wickets up from. But when you look over the total piece, they were actually relatively similar. So I actually think over the piece, you give Shamar seven, the context of the flat wickets, notwithstanding Jaden Seals. He also took seven wickets. But then look at, look at these figures. Jaden actually took his seven wickets at 30. So just to explain, Jaden took seven wickets at 33. Shamar took seven wickets at 35. I was already at six wickets at 36. But here's the difference maker for me between Jaden and those two. One, Jaden bold more than those two. But Jaden bold more than those two.

21:40But here's the critical thing for me. Jaden's economy rate was 3.6. Shamar Joseph was 4.3. Auzari's was 4.5, which speaks to the fact that Jaden offers far better control than Shamar Joseph and Auzari Joseph. So that for me gives him a 0.5 better rating than Shamar and Auzari. You may even say that seven wickets at 33 on a flat wicket, on flat wickets deserves a better rating. But I'm going to say 7.5 for Jaden seals. And seven for the other two paces. And then lastly, Anderson Finix. Anderson Finix came in for Kumar Roach and he took two wickets at 50. Better economy than Shamar Joseph and Auzari Joseph. Got better as the match went on. But people I think are still caught perhaps rightly so in this notion that Auzari, no one doubts that Anderson Finix is the best domestic seamer outside of Auzari, Shamar and Jaden. I don't think anyone really doubts that.

22:40I mean, the record speaks for themselves. But I think people doubt whether Anderson Finix has the chops for top level international cricket. The only mitigate in factor, I would save Anderson Finix, which somebody raised to me. And I've also been keeping the tab on. Let me see if I can find it. The only mitigate in fact, I would save Anderson Finix. I'm just bringing up the details here. Anderson Finix has played. Is this his batting or is this his bowling? Yeah, this is his bowling. So Anderson Finix has played. No, I don't even know. I don't even know. No, actually, I don't even know if that is a mitigate in factor. He's had how many good innings has he had as a bowler? Two for 30 versus Bangladesh. In St. Lucia in 2022.

23:40Three. No, but that's not good. No, I think that's it. So Anderson Finix has played 37 test matches. And I'd say out of the 13 innings he's bowling, he's probably had one what I'd call very good performance. And that was his first one, two for 30 versus Bangladesh. In St. Lucia, there's some middle in ones. Like one for 46 against Australia. Is that what's that in Grenada? I can't remember where that test match was. That was in 2025. Any foot of the year? One. I'm reaching there. I'm stretching. I'm stretching and I'm reaching to look for something. His overall record at the moment is 12 in seven test matches, 12 wickets at the 63. Now again, so I think some people say the midgeting batteries he's not played as matches on very friendly wickets, generally speaking, which I think there is, I think there is some, there's some merit in that, but generally, no, I don't think there's enough merit

24:44in that to try and give him a defense or a context. I think there are rightfully question marks around him. And when Kimar Rolce comes back, assuming he comes back for Pakistan, Anderson goes back down to the bench. But I think I said it on a live watch long, and I'll say it again, you can see why West Indies are using Otis Gibson to do these fastballer camps back in the Caribbean because we have to build up a cadre of replacement fastballers. Not for Anderson Philip, but just in general for the top four. Roach, Joseph, Joseph Seals, are heads and shoulders above everybody else. Jason Holder would be in that pack if he genuinely wanted to play a test cricket. And if Kimar Paul gets fit, maybe Kimar Paul is in that pack as well. But right now, Anderson Philip deserves his spot as the next taxi off the rank, but there are people on right to have question marks about him. Anyway, so Anderson Philip, what rating do we give him? I was a bit underwhelmed, I must say. Like I said, I think he got better as the test match went on.

25:45And the pitch obviously was massively on for giving it wasn't friendly. So we must put that context four out of ten for Anderson Philip. So that's that people. Those are the player ratings. Lots of people are rightfully happy about the test series and how dominant we looked and how like one man said in the comments in the last in the last video, that test match was just a boring win. And I'm here for that. Here's to more boring wins. Here's to just, you see, my view almost in his cricket is, beg is can't be choosers. A W is better than scrutinising how we got the W for me. And this W was a dominant W and it deserves to be, we deserve to boost it up, we deserve to highlight it. But I'm never going to complain about West Indies winning a boring game. We don't win enough to be moaning and quibbling about the fact it was boring. Here's to more boring test match wins and test match series wins. Well done to the guys in general. No one watch no face.
