Listen live weekday afternoon, starting at three on 80 ESPN, the ESPN New York app and your smart speakers. Three o'clock in the big city with Don LaGrecca and Peter Rosenberg on Alan Han, 800 9.93776 is the number getting line. Because this is a day... Look, you can win a wildcard round. And you could say it's just a wildcard. It's like a glorified play.

I don't care. Whenever you beat the Red Sox and send them home, it's a day to celebrate. And that's what today was. I mean, 18 to two... I was gonna say, when it's a combined 18 to two. Yeah. When it's a bludgeoning. Yeah. That was of your division, Ron. And that was a party last night, boy. I tell you what, if you had tickets to that game, you definitely wanted to make sure you were in the battle with you. I mean, honestly. Yeah, I could do it. How can you do it? And you know, it's funny. As soon as you said that, we lost Peter's camera like we did. Well, found out. Are you serious? Right. Oh, man. Oh, so let's start moving around again. What's going on, Peter? Listen, we're gonna talk about the Yankees and rightly so. But the fact that the morning show and Carlisn and Dan have no respect for my man, Peter, is ridiculous. You're gonna have the right answer. The last night would have happened to anybody. He asked for tickets on a Wednesday. He read me the email. All the indications were that that was for a Wednesday. Game. There was a screw up. It could have happened to anybody. He got the private game. And now because I guess they don't have enough content, they've got to be ripping my guy.

Stop it. Grow up. Thank you, God. Thank you. God, don't woke up today and chose violent. No, because it's just that everybody has to go at me for something. You know what? They just left this man. I felt so bad for you. Seriously. Well, listen, I'm not as like I'm some Yankee fans. I can't feel bad. It's not. There are other people who I feel worse for. But certainly me and my wife, we got a babysitter. We were excited. You know, I wanted the baby shrimp level fee, a baby feet level shrimp. That too. Or baby shrimp level feet. Yeah. Tiny, tiny feet. Good thing you just got checked. That's your business. Yeah, whatever you wanted to. I'm trying to go retro. Hey, I'm not going all retro. I don't have to. But, but listen, there are sadder stories. But just the fact they had to go at me. You guess what, guys? The last laugh always is on the haters because the wonderful people who offer us the tickets and said we will see you in the same seats the next time the Yankees play here. So I'm a little, uh, game three of the DS.

So what would you say when's the day at the DS? How about that? What would you rather be in some Focac de World Card or do you want to be in an actual series called the division? You know, he wants to meet Paul Simon in the, uh, well, that happened Tuesday. So that was the tickets I actually had. So that, that, that, that ship has sailed well. I really think that the only game he's going to be one of the wild cards here. Yeah, that's too big for him. You know what? That's a great, it's a great take. I just, uh, when I heard about this, I was just, I was in a way because, yeah. It's like me taking Nancy to Hamilton and the tickets fall through. It's like, well, don't stop that big a fan of American history. Right. But he wanted to go to a musical. He was like, oh, it's sad. It was a hot thing. He wanted to go there. He wanted to stuff his face. He wanted to chance to meet Paul Simon. He wanted to take his wife out on a nice night. Yeah, well, whatever works. Don, tell you what, you know, dodge shot at a canton. Yes. Look, violence is not always the answer, but sometimes it is. But sometimes it is. Well, it is. It's a fun answer. And I, and by the way, I want it because I want this to set off the energy for today. I want to hear from Yankee fans that may have had a lot of doubts, a lot of,

oh, my expectation is this or that, how do you feel right now? 18 to 2 in the wild card. They smashed them. You get great performances from the kid, from Schlittler and from Freed. How do you not, Ben Rice looks like a monster. Lumbar has been great. How about Belinger also catalacan around the bases after that home run? Big, how do you love that? How's the back of your belly for a sleigh ride? Belinger also should add 2 and 0 in the playoffs since the old time Yankee lineups have started. You know, that's a great point. Think about that. Old time Yankee lineup has to continue. They're dominant. You might have to just do one Saturday for the internet. Yeah, you know what? I'm just a devoyess note to you guys privately. But no, I just, I hope that we hear from Yankee fan base today. That's at least, if you looked at the crowd satisfied, they looked more than satisfied. I don't know. That's what I, what I called for the crowd. They let sunny gray have it as he got off the mound. That was good. But that crowd was electric. That was a crowd that was anticipating that wanted it.

And that was what Ken made Yankee stadium different and maybe less antiseptic. Because sometimes Yankee stadium can feel that way. The building doesn't really rock the way the old one did. But I got to be honest, like last night, it was palpable, man. Like you threw, threw TV. You could feel it that that place really was good weight for any moment. And jump arch rival and you smack them around. Yeah. And, and, and then you take a look at the wild card, which was basically been a glorified dud from age really baseball. They've only got one series that is going to go the distance. And that's the series they buried at two o'clock in the afternoon, the first two games with filling in Atlanta. But the Cubs done quickly and didn't have any offense whatsoever. The Astros didn't even belong at 81 and 81 of the White Sox took care of them. And this is what you're supposed to do. The Yankees are a big boy team. As much as some of the Yankee fans don't want to admit it. It's a big boy team that lost its best player. But still has some very good players and they've got a pitching staff to die for. And when you got pitching in the postseason, you're, you're in great shape.

Even if the Yankees bats played the way they had played down the stretch. And if they didn't tack on all those runs at the end of the game like they did in both contests. And it was a one, one, nothing. They would have one, two, nothing. Because that's how good this pitching is. It's special. It's elite. And the wild card is supposed to be disruptive to the rest of your playoff run. Because it's supposed to mess with your rotation. Well, because the Yankees made short work, they've got a former Si Young Award winner and Garrett Cole that's going to start game one. They're going to be able because of the schedule with the day off before game two. Come right back with Cam Schletler in game two of the series. And they still have in pitch Rodan. And then free it'll be set up for game three if they decide to go that way. So they were not affected at all by having to play the wild card round. And they get a little bit of a rest here. Right? They finish things off on Wednesday night, Thursday, Friday. All right, they got to travel down to Tampa. No big deal. But usually the wild card is supposed to mess with you. Didn't mess with the Yankees at all.

How do we feel about, and then we brought this up a lot. But I noticed something our good friend, Ty Butler, put up a retweeted, I guess, the Yankees celebrating with champagne again in the clubhouse. And Butler said something like the, like the Nick's wouldn't have done that in the first. I didn't do that in the first round. Well, nobody does that. It really is a baseball thing, right? It's a total baseball thing. So at this point, do we just, like, do we stop because the white socks certainly went crazy? They, they celebrated big time winning their, their series as well. Do we just have to get over it? Because the response to that tweet was basically a contrast in opinions, not anyone down the middle. It was either that's just baseball, get over it or it's embarrassing. They shouldn't do it. Well, both can both be true. Like, I think it's based on the middle. It's only baseball. So the idea, well, the Nick's wouldn't do it. Of course, the Nick's wouldn't do it. The ring's wouldn't do it. Yeah, don't do it. Nobody would do it.

No one does it until the end of the whole thing. And you can look at it as embarrassing, but it's a baseball thing. So get over it. I mean, I don't know. I don't like it, but it's a baseball thing. It's a thing that baseball wants to do. The players seem to enjoy doing it. It's not going to go away. Get over it. How about judging the middle of it? And he made it a point to say it doesn't matter if you played or not in the series. You were in pinstripes. You have the NY on you. You are part of this celebration. Like he was adamant about about being part of it. It sounded very interesting to me. He said that. He said it was one of the clips I saw of him in the clubhouse during the celebration. And so it's just like he's somebody and we'll get obviously into looking forward now. But he is definitely somebody that is pushing himself into the conversation. Does not want to be forgotten. And once everybody to know I want to play.

I want to play. Don't say that I don't want to play. They're not letting me play. But also by saying that. By saying what you just said that he said. Yeah. Of. Yeah, but even if you don't play, you're a part of it. It's like he's also hedging though. I know I might not play. So I want people I was thinking I'm part of this thing. You know what I mean? I think he's doing both. I think he's doing look at me. I want to play. You know, like, hey, I'm not even going to be at the game last night because I got to go get BP in. Which feels a little performative to me. Well, because he, yeah, he went to Somerset. Yeah, he came back. He got there in time for the. Oh, he was there in time. Yeah, for actual first match, but he wasn't around for the. Yeah, like I feel like they probably could have made room for you to swing a few times before. But whatever. Maybe no, they want to get some life. Yeah, they got it. So, you know, they wanted him live. So it just feels like he is doing a lot right now. But I can't knock him because he probably guys feels a little bit lost because of all this. Oh, yeah. And he's trying to find his way through. It's an awkward. You're the best player on the team. You're the heart and soul captain guy. They just beat the Red Sox 18 to over.

Without you. It's an awkward spot to be and he's trying to figure it out. But it's odd because are you a part of it? Not not saying he's not allowed to celebrate. He's on the team. Of course, a lot of time. Of course, but I, I, I harken back to what I had said. Harkin, Black a week ago. Yeah, because I guess we're in the Hamilton mood. Yeah, he, I said, please, please, please, Harkin. That, you know, Phil Sims won't wear the ring. Won't wear the Super Bowl 25 ring because he was hurt and wasn't a part of it. So he does not celebrate that because, you know, even though he played the first 10 games of that season, 11 games for that season, then feel like it was a part of it. Won't wear the ring. Remember Jeremy Shocky was hurt when the Giants beat the Patriots the first time. And he was done. He wasn't traveling with the team. He was up in the suite like he wasn't on the sidelines. Like in other sports, injured players are not part of the team. Now the difference is he's trying to get back. It's not like he's done for the year. He didn't tear his Achilles. He's done. Right. Right. So, but it would be, it will be interesting if he doesn't play in the divisional round.

And it's starting to look like he's not going to play whether he'll still keep up that same attitude or will it begin to drift into am I really a part of this because I'm not contributing? This is, this is definitely going to be part of the conversation over the next couple of days. But you would, you both were talking about, you used two pitchers, both did well in Schlippler and Fried. Now you have two days and then you start on Saturday, what, 630 right down in Tampa. Right. And Aaron Boone afterwards, he talked about the fact that the rotation is in pretty good place. There's no question. I feel great about those guys obviously. That's been the biggest strength for us throughout the year. It sustained us. It got us through some difficult times. And I feel like they're all in a good place right now. That's one of the ways we're going to have to do it. Obviously, leaning on the strength of those guys, but I like where they're at. They passed the baton right down like that. That's kind of the mentality at this point. And for Cole, who didn't really finish the season great and had a little bit of a problem, whether it's tipping pitchers or what given up some home runs, his next start, whether it's game one or whatever it's going to be,

is a critical one for him to say, okay, I took the baton and I pass it on to the next guy. It's, I see that, that to me is the one of the best conversations going into the race series is that, you know, Cole's got a pitch game one because if he doesn't pitch game one, when does he pitch? Like if you go to Rodon and then you have, you know, Cam pitch game two and then free pitch game three, what if you sweep the series? Now you're now you're captain like not, not, not, not with a C on his chest, but I think still the leader of that rotation. He may not be the best pitcher, but he's the leader. Now won't make an appearance until what game four of the league championship series like, it's crazy. That's why I think he's kind of has to pitch game one, right? Otherwise, he's a guy that might not pitch the first two rounds of the playoffs and got for a bit if you get swept by the race, doesn't pitch at all. He'll pitch it all. Yeah. He's got a pitch game one, though. Is it problematic for him as like a real ritual guy that he would have pitched today and now instead,

so what are they? He's pitching the playoffs before. So he's had to do stuff like this, where he would think sure he get the extra days. Go on throw, toss it around a little bit. I guarantee this will be off day. Comments it don't right. Like the two, well, then you have to just pitch them. The two highest paid players are two most, you know, important players in Cole and judge are going to be a big part of the conversation before we even get to settle. Whether we get lineup, by the way, I mean, roster. Oh, roster would have to be Friday, right? Yeah, I would think Friday. Yeah. Meanwhile, nobody on the right, I would think he be even if they decided not to pitch him in game one. Oh, no, Cole will. Yeah. Cole definitely will know as far as who's doing well, although we might know the Cole's pitching. We know we know they can announce that. They can announce that right away if they want. Yeah. Does a man. I think the interesting thing, and Michael brought this up too, because it's a longer series, they're probably going to go with 12 pitchers. So instead of having a seven man bench, you're going to have a five. Stan's not going to be on the rock. Even with all the, even with the off days built in. Stan's not going to be on the roster. Yeah, well, if you have judge, I don't think you can have both.

But even, even if you have judge, you know, you even have, if you go two more pitchers, then that's going to take from the bench. So I, and because he can't play the field, I don't, I think Stan was a luxury because they were able to go with just 10 pitchers and they had the extra bodies on the bench. If they're going to go 12, they may not, they may go 11, but if they go 12 pitchers, then that's two spots gone because of the arms. I don't, I don't think Stan will be on it. All right. Well, Rosario would probably be the other one too, right? Yeah, although he did. Everybody seemed to have played other than, well, that's the thing. That's the reason the farest bit of riches when you think about it. Well, as long as it's, as long as you have success, it definitely looks like riches. So there's no Yankees game tonight, of course. That series is over, but there is hockey tonight. You can hear where Don is. He's at the rock. The devil's home opener, although it is on national television. Don is there because, of course, he's the, he's part of the team. He got to be there for the one with them.

He's the face and voice of the devil. He is they, they are he. Right. So he's there. That's why you're hearing some of the organs and whatnot. And a five o'clock train will come by. We'll hear that at some point as well. But also tonight as well as the devil's playing tonight. The rangers take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at the garden. And that is live on MST networks. Tune into MST at 630 for all the action or stream live on MST plus now exclusively in DeZone app. You got it now, right? You guys all got your DeZone app. Of course you did get ready for the season. Rangers hockey's back tonight. 630 on MST. Lots of calls 800 now and nine three seven seven six. How do we begin? All right. I'm going to give it positive, negative or judge. Positive. Positive? Yeah. You got to. I'll know as often positive day. Okay. How about Mike and Thorne would then start to solve? Okay. Hey guys. Thanks for taking the call. Appreciate it. You got it. To me, the past two games, there were two things that were so encouraging.

I can't remember the last time a Yankee 12 game having double digit hits. The runs is one thing, but they just got hit after hit after hit. But it's really amazing when you put when you put the ball in place. Yeah. There was a sequence that I think it was last night. Well, another phenomenal at that stack fly. McMahon, a weak round ball, but another run. And then I think they got a two out hit. When you strike out, there's no defensive. There's nothing. The runners don't move up. Right. I mean, it's. I have not. I can't remember the last time they did this. It's truly a joy to watch. Now look, they can go lay in a egg against this race, but they did not. The past two days. And that's what Toronto did to them last year. That's what the Red Talks used to always do to them after hit. And it was just. It was fun to watch. I mean, make the guys make a play and a bloop in here and then run. It was just. It was super encouraging and thanks a lot, guys. And Han, real quick, do you think it's a big deal that bars he doesn't have a letter? I'll hang out. I don't. Yeah. Thanks, Mike. I don't. We can certainly dive into more hockey later because we're going to have Henrik Lunkwist on.

Oh boy. To talk some hockey. I mentioned a rehearsal today. So we have the King at five and Seth Rollins at five thirty. That's right. Because why the jets are playing the Bears. Yeah. And let's see what he thinks about. He is a bit of a bet in a Bears insider situation and bear superfan. And of course, one of the great WW superstars of all times that too. I would think that I need to do that. Or do we already, when I say Seth Rollins, like, I think people are starting to know. Like, I think he's starting to see him at this point. I think it's starting to get there. I just want to make sure. And he's done his share of NFL network and ESPN and Netflix on Christmas. Like, he's doing a lot of the football too. So, you know how it is. Sometimes you're on a Roosevelt. Yeah. Like, sometimes you have to font people. But I don't think we need to defon Seth Rollins. You think you need to be on font who is also a Bears fan. I love that. What do you think, John? You should font everybody. It just to be. We'll talk about that. I do think that he's becoming a household name for sure. Okay. Fair enough. How about John and Chad? Go ahead, John. You're up. Hey, guys.

Yeah. And Michael show a caller called up and said, he was praising Brian Cashman for not trading away his prospects. But two of the Yankees best prospects came Schlippler and Ben Rice. When they were in the minors, nobody wanted them. The whole new day we're going to turn out to be Tom Sever and Tom Malibz. Well, I think he's more talking about this past year, though, John. Right. Because you had a chance to get Tark's schoolable and of course what was good to Detroit going to ask for, they were going to ask for one of those guys. And you said no. Well, yeah. And there was also a lot of work. And there was a lot of work. They were established. Well, when they were the minor leagues, the minor leagues, nobody wanted them. But John, you talk about it. But John, he's talking about Malibz. But he's talking about now. He's literally talking about now. He's not talking about when they were nobodies. Because they're young players and young players. No, no, hang on. Young players are still not guaranteed. You don't know what they're going to be.

Like Schlippler could be Josh Beckett. We don't know. But right now he's really good. And you don't want to give up on young players for an established star player who's got side-yungs in his pocket, right? So the whole idea was they said no. I'm not going to get the high price, established guy, that I know what he is because I got a young player and I really believe he's going to be with us. Is it Lombard's going to be with us? Rice is going to be with us. This is the next iteration of the Yankees and we're not breaking it up. And I think you have to give credit sometimes because you could overreact and think we've got to win it for Judge right now. We've got to pile as many championships as we can. And we're just going all in on all the big names, which by the way, George used to do. He didn't do that. What is John? John, what do you mean we have a one? My point is we have a one nothing yet. A blind patient to me is a first-by-all at Hall of Fame business general, man. 40 million fans a year, mostly, mostly made today. Yeah, I don't know why it's twice today.

Why today? Why today? Why today? But why today, John? John, I guess the question is what's wrong with you? What's the point? What's going on in your world? That this is what you want to do. Isn't this for Ab if they get a limited? What why today when they outscored the Red Sox 18 to two and all the young kids contributed and Brian. So John, that's what bothers you. So John, John, you're not happy today. You're not happy today. The Yankees just took out the Red Sox and they're heading into the D.S. and you're not happy. I used to be a Yankees fan. I'm not happy with Brian. Well, that's what he's done over. Right, but at some point. If the Yankees meet Chicago Red Sox, that's the end of the show for today. Let's say you wanted Yankees' favorite victory. Let him say it. Sometimes I have the same champion and the past 25 years, one of the beats. So... All right, so thanks John. I think we're all good with you. I appreciate it. I'll speak for all of us when I say thank you for the call. No, no, we'll save that. We'll save that. These are the Yankees fans. This is why I'm not a Yankees fan as you know.

And I usually don't want them to win a championship as a matter of fact. I want the Yankees to win. I want the Yankees to win it all for that guy. For that guy because he won't know what to do. He's gonna soil himself because his fandom is hating Brian Cashman. He loves it because he wants to be right. And if the Yankees win the championship, they won't be right. And he won't know what to do with himself. See that's a guy that doesn't deserve it to be a Yankee fan. He stopped being a Yankee fan because they ever won a championship. It's 2009 way back in 2009. And now Brian Cashman had a great series. All of the prospects he held onto were great. He finally developed the best pitching staff in baseball. And now you might have to give a little tip of the cap. You don't want to do it because that might admit you're wrong. Yeah, they haven't won anything yet. They might get swept by the rays. We don't know. And I'm sure you'll all come out of the woodwork if that were to happen. But today of all days, I'm the Holy Is the day. You outscored their point of 18. No, I'm gonna beat up on Brian Cashman. And I'm not gonna be a Yankee fan anymore because they haven't won a championship in 17 years.

I won. No, you're in love with the winning. You're not in love with the Yankees. You never worry Yankee fan. You were in love with the winning. You lugged your ear in the factor team one all the time. And all of a sudden they didn't win. You wanted somebody to blame. And now you're actually rooting against them so you could be right. That's crazy. That's really, really, really sad. It is sad. And you know what? He needs to be called out. But not by us. By Yankee fan. That's right. Evan Cohen here. Gain Day brings the excitement. So eventually we've got a discuss which maybe we'll do during E&M. This Jaden Daniels, a battle armor that they've got on his arm, but that's on football conversation that we'll get to later on. Yankees win and sweep. Yeah, they were giving out brooms. Did you see Libman? Good for them. I had like a smart marketing handing out brooms to everybody outside the stadium. So a lot of celebration on that side of it. And again, yes, it's the wild card, but it's beating the red sucks. I'm sorry, you'd be Boston. It is something in New York. It matters. And so I smoke like blood was fun. And yeah, it was a lot of that too. And it's that guy Thursday. We will be getting to our good friend, Sonny Gray. We will be getting to that as well. But we want to get to you in your calls today, on our number nine, 3776 Raoul is in Harrisburg. You're up next, Raoul. Hey guys, how are we doing? What we doing this week? What's up? Good, good, good. Yeah, good done. I just want to, Peter, I want to ask you how loud was it?

Yeah, it was extremely loud. I heard you made it the game. You made it the game? Oh, boy. Before I asked for my question, yeah. Are you a tough, tough, first question, Raoul? Yeah, it's really hard, Raoul. Are you saying that you heard part of the show yesterday and you heard that I was going to the game? Yeah, I heard you was going to the game. That's what I asked. I know you're all real fast. But you didn't hear the end of the show when it turned out the tickets that I had were for Tuesday's game. So I didn't go yesterday. Oh, it's a unit to be. No, no, no, no. I didn't go to either. He found out Wednesday that the tickets were Tuesday. Yeah. Which is not the time you want to find out. OK. All right. Yeah. All right, go ahead. And it's time machine is broke. Let's see how it goes. Let me get my third question to that. OK. So you know the Phillies game ended with a ABS challenge, right? And they used it at the end of the game, right, guys? Yeah. It was crucial for them. Now, my question is, do you think that, especially for the Yankees, will they leave that challenge for later on the ending? Is it's important to use?

What I'm saying is it's important to leave that for the end of the game because to keep on in the pocket, it's going to be a tight series. Yeah. Because if you use it early, you know what I mean? The Yankees are pretty good with it. I've not, you know, right? You got to play offensive. You know what I mean? And the offensive side, they got it. They got to use it when they can't use it. Yeah. But also play it on the defensive side. You know what I'm trying to say, guys? I wouldn't overthink this. Don, what do you think? Well, the problem is it's not really any strategy. The player just instinctively touches someone. He feels like it's out of the strike. So like you don't get a chance to really discuss it. Right. You could tell the players listen, don't challenge until later in the game. But some of these guys just do it anyway. Because it's there at bat. They feel like it was a ball and they want to challenge it. So it's not like a throw in the flag in the NFL or the challenges that you see in the NHL and the NBA where there's at least a little moment to discuss what you're going to do. There's none. It's in that moment. And a lot of these players, I don't know if they're told or not, but you saw it there in a regular season, guys. Some of the most ridiculous challenge.

If all we had a challenge during the year was like, there's a foot outside. Like, what are you thinking? Sometimes these players get so passionate. So I would tell them, don't, but you never know when a big moment's a big moment, right? Like, you're getting these low scoring games. I mean, the bat you lose in the second inning, you look back and go, boy, I'd love to be able to have that at bat back. So I just don't, I don't think you really overthink it. I think you live it in that particular moment. Let's go to, let's go to Burkey and Belmore. Burkey. Sure. That's what I would think of Burkey sounds like. All right, he'll have to call back. Let's see, Victor and Asbury Park. Hey, gentlemen, how are you? Good. It's my first time calling. Guys, have a great show. Really, really enjoy it. I'm originally from Asbury Park, but I live in Citrus Heights, California now. Why do you think he fans out here? My thing is, with this roster, why am I carrying Sanchez?

Why don't you two catchers in this position? You play, you're off, you play, you're off. But what if you have an injury? Sanchez. What if you have an injury? You break, you break the glass and go to, and go to rice. Where's the plate? Yeah, good boy. He's put him back there. Oh, no. He hasn't put him to the play. Sanchez is, what would he Sanchez? Sanchez is deadweight anyway. He hasn't played since Lincoln went to the prom for God's sake. Well, and that, you know, you know, you go back and catcher in the postseason. That's kind of what the job is. Well, you got, well, you got, rice is a back, back out. All right, whatever. But the fact is, I feel like the chances of that happening, the chances of that happening. But if it does, the chances of, the standard judge coming all the bench and hits one wrong. It's fireable if that happens. Even if there's a minuscule chance in your mind, injuries happen in a blink of an eye, and to look at it, and if it messes up, Ben Rice, because now you're like, hey, I know you haven't done it all year, but why don't you squat behind the plate now and call pitches and frame? Can you do that for us? And then also, you know, it's not conditionally casual, right?

But he's not conditioned to catch it. It's a great game. How do you know? What if Wells could turn game one, and he's out for the rest of the series? Now you're asking him to do it every game. All right, he's not conditioned to do that. That happened, wait a minute, wait a minute. Do you bring rice into the game? Wells is hurt, he goes off the washer. You can bring a guy up, because he's hurt. Yeah. Oh, then you do that. But we're talking about in the game itself, there's a reason why he didn't catch all of you. If I have to catch you. You have him catching. Guys, you're missing it. No, my point is that chances of that happen. I want to hear it. I rather take my chance with judge or stand. So what do you do with that? Especially if he doesn't want to have that. That is dead weight. Okay. All right. But do you literally have another player on that team who could catch if you needed them to? Yeah, rice. But he has done it all year. And you can miss, but you could mess him up. It's fine. It's fine. I'm not going to mess him up for one or two games. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know, man. Like I've been rice. Christ, the 31 in 97.

But what do you think the guy's like because he sits down and sits on a bench or a game. But this is what every team does. I don't know. We just agree with everything. Ever caught? Like I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Come on. All right. Thank you. Come on. This is what everybody does. The backup catchers on the team. It's not dead weight. His job is to be the backup catcher. There's a reason why rice did not catch all year long. I understand what you're saying that, oh, what if he gets hurt in a ninth inning? So what? Then what you can't catch one inning? I get you. But what if he gets hurt in the top of the first inning? I don't know. And now you're going to have a guy who hasn't caught all year have to catch an entire game. I might even be an elimination game. And what if it wears him out? You wouldn't know he's tired. His legs are shot. And when your legs are shot, you start. I mean, it's like this what he does. What is he doing? He's done this year, but he thinks he's going to be shot immediately. If you're not conditioned to do it. If you're not conditioned to catch a majorly baseball game, you just think when did he last when was the last catching with an irregularity? I have no idea. We're also missing what catchers do, right?

They work with the pitching staff. They got to know the pitchers. There's got to be a comfort zone there. How many times did we go over? Like, Robert, that doesn't want to pitch the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, yeah, they got to use the backup catcher. Like these guys are comfortable. You just, and by the way, Ben Rice is not caught in the majors. So ever. Yeah, he has caught the majors. Well, consistent. I know he's had a couple of games, but it's not been a thing. It never was the thing. He's got the roster spot. A backup catcher. Everybody's got one. I mean, what are we doing? Why are we thinking outside the box? I can't believe we're entertaining this. No, no, no, no. Well, that's what we're here for. Where you know, we're not here for that. Why are therapists for that? Why don't you get paid enough to talk these people off a ledge? I mean, that Victor's got issues, man. That they did. Fathered by this tells me he needs to talk to a professional. I'm a professional talksoat. I'm not a psychologist. I didn't stay at a holiday in last night. No, we don't have time for this. Well, let's see what else we have on hold. All right. How about Anthony and the car? Anthony, tread lightly.

Hey, fellas. How you doing? Good. How you doing? I'm Peter. Peter, maybe you could back me up on this. All right. There's something to do with Don at hockey arenas. And old time Yankee guys, I didn't kill Victor John. They're all making. That's a great. Wait, are you swimming? They're making what point? Sally and point. Are they? But it's just because Don's in the arena. And when he hears the old time Yankee fan, he's right, something happens to him. To snap his fingers. Don't go back to writing the numbers down for the Capitol. Right. He was on the verge, right? The numbers down for the Capitol. I'm not even working tonight. And he's not even working. No, I think the way I responded to Victor was the way any healthy and intelligent human being would respond. This is the mission to solve the same. Who needs to think of guilt? Kill wasn't even real. And kill was horrible. We get a horrible rap because of these people, man. It's like ridiculous. Celebrate it. I Anthony. It's weird, bro. Thank you. When I did my spot on B. Mitch and Finley and DC today,

they said, are Yankee fans over the moon today? I went guys. Yankee fans don't get over the moon. That's sorry. That's not a thing here. It's there's some that seem that will be upbeat. But no, you're right. It's really incredible. Like you beat the Red Sox 18 to two over two games. Yeah. No, it's just the Red Sox. They're not good. Okay. This is bad. This is really bad. This is kill. Charlie and Queens. Charlie. Yeah, how you doing, guys? Hey, there must be something in the air today. I don't understand. I'm liking the toilet. You don't need a backup. You didn't need a backup, catcher. Yeah. Yeah. I just want to talk about judge. You guys think he should be on the roster, but the next year, I think everything's cooking well right now. He really hasn't played well even when he came back. I think maybe they should even more, at least one more series and don't have a question for you about hockey because I'm on Iowa hockey like you do. I wonder, what do you think it really is the chance to arrange this by doing anything this year? You think I shine and I watch them the other day and they don't score.

You think there's anything that they have to do and what you're opinion on that. And one more baseball quarter sentence. I like to say these Yankee fans, I'm not really Yankee fans because if they want this team over the years from what I did, like I said, I'm 69 years old. I've been watching Yankee since I'm six. I see more Yankee teams you could ever see. Brian Cashman for 30 years he's been there. I've had this team in the playoffs just about every year. No team in any sport could say that. So when you start getting into Cashman, think about it a little bit, okay? Because the guy is not doing a bad job, okay? That's your guys. Thanks for what? Thanks, I appreciate it. What a voice. What a voice I would have. I'm out of New York. That is central loving. Oh yeah. You know what I love? The issue question are going after these guys. Yeah. For feeling the way that they feel. I like that. And just quickly listen, it's one game, but the Rangers are going to struggle to score. So Islanders as well. But they got goal-tending to keep them in games, but at some point you're going to have to score. Things scares me about the Rangers. They got an amazing year from his advantage ad last year.

And it just wasn't enough. So if he takes a step back, where's the offense coming from? They got a bunch of kids. They're hoping they're going to emerge that Perot's going to find it. I just listen, Philadelphia got club yesterday. That three spot in the Metro might be wide open. But for the Rangers Islanders, we'll see what the Devils do with their new offensive lineup. Got to score some goals in this league, man. Rangers and Islanders kind of scare me. Are they going to score in a consistent enough basis? Because we've seen them. We'll talk to Hank later. Yeah. Great goal-tender. Doesn't guarantee anything, man. Because these guys figure out a way to score. So you better figure out a way to score as well. Henrik Lundquist will join us at five o'clock for more of the hockey talk. Brian and Brooklyn has a question for us. Boys, go ahead, Brian. How's it going, guys? Good. I'm sending the show. Usually I'm working at this time, man, but I had to take a break because I couldn't believe some of the things I was hearing from some of these fans or court-unquote fans. I mean, complaining about a backup catcher spot

on a playoff. They don't have to do it themselves. They're happy. One, I don't get why we're meant. Like, I understand like being cautious about the Yankees and the playoffs. But I got to admit, there's something about the way that we played in these two games that just leaves me really optimistic this year. I mean, our pitching is phenomenal. I don't think we've ever had this good as starting pitching since the late 90s when I was a kid. Might've been better than that. And really might be. And the way that we were playing baseball, like every year I complain about Cashvin just because he doesn't get players that played a small ball in baseball. I mean, Trent Grinchford's dropping a blunt yesterday. Well, that was the biggest shock in the day for me. I know everybody's talking about Belief Home Run and Luis Garcia, but just seeing those little things, Spencer Jones hustling the first on that strikeout and then stealing and causing Rushwin to overthrow

and go to the third. And it's stuff like that was what was missing in those teams. I mean, even when we went to the World Series in 24, we went because we're hitting bombs every game. John Carlos, Soto and Judge were hitting the ball everywhere. We don't have those kind of guys this year, but we do have guys that look like they're ready to play the game the right way. And I'm actually really excited for the rest of this playoff run. I think we have a real chance at something here. Well, listen, I'm excited for you. I'm excited for you and what could happen on the Bronx. And I'm also excited for people trying to buy a car in the Bronx. Oh, yeah. Where would you go? Kia City. Of course you would. Well, because listen, people sometimes don't know how to make your buying experience positive. And that's not the situation at Kia City of the Bronx. They understand what it is. Hey, guys, did you happen to catch the Penguin Square yesterday? The Queen? That's a touchdown to you, man. That's seven, nothing. That is the largest road home road opening. The wind opening. Season opening of all time. Of all time, Craig. You know, it was in goal for your Pittsburgh Penguins? Uh, let's see. She loves. That's right. And you only got one measly one for Crosby. That's it. One assist. Holy God. She loves. She's cooked. But she loves with the pig. Shut out on the pitch. She loves shut out. A she love shut out like a dream about. Oh, right. So the hockey season often running in the Rangers tonight.

Hey guys, thanks for taking the call. What's up? Any any any any fan who's bringing negative. I mean, essentially the past two games are everything we've been wanting. Small ball athleticism. Three points young players. Young players and homegrown everything. The one and I'm not saying the negative. It's just I had a negative thought creep in when I'm watching the celebration. And I know you guys mentioned judges comments. And a terrible thought creeps in on judges legacy. Astrix is always playoff.

If this is the year, let's say his injuries worse. The Yankees are always cheeky on injuries and he doesn't come back or he's only available for two or three pinch hits. You know, maybe one one hit here there and we do win the World Series. I'll be ecstatic as Yankees fan, but as a judge fan, man, that's going to be tough because then all the judge haters will still have that Astrix of just while he wasn't there. He didn't do it. So I hope not. Thanks for taking the call done. I feel for you on the twin phone. I just picked up my twins from kindergarten. I'm about to turn six. I'll jump off and I'll jump off and let you guys go. Thanks for taking the call. Congratulations on that. It's a wonderful time for sure. Hey, uh, judge haters. There's a lot of them. Well, not judge haters, but just people that want to just stick it that he hasn't won the judge's skeptics. How about judge skeptics? All right. But we have to admit though, Don, they go on and win the whole thing and judge never plays. It does not. But I will say the chewing ask 99.

It's not great. But doesn't, doesn't not that they're judge haters. The judge skeptics doesn't come from a place of what we haven't won. So they're kind of blaming him as the best player. Yeah. So if they win without him, would that then turn to like the caller where you're almost you sympathize like, man, I feel bad for him that we finally did win and he wasn't a part of it. Rather than beating him up because I think they where they come from beating him up as they have a want. So if they get the ring, maybe they'll ease up on him a bit. But it'll always be a thing. Yeah, he didn't win it, but maybe there'll be less vitriol over it if the Yankees are able to get a ring. What if here just quickly because he referenced it and I referenced it earlier, we do have the audio of it. Here's judge. Here's what I was talking about, Donnie Postgame in the champagne celebration. And Aaron Judge did not play in the in the wild card. He wasn't on the roster for it and didn't get introduced. Any of that stuff. He did say though that we all partake in this. I'm wearing a Yankees uniform. I got in while my chest.

Yeah, when the Yankees ring, no, we all win. So it doesn't matter if you play, it didn't play at the game when he hit, it's a shutout. You know, we're all wearing it in a Y in this room. That's why we're all celebrating together. What do you think of that? You heard in his words. I actually find it really interesting. Interesting. Just into first, I agree with him. Of course. Fundamentally, this is a team. Like that, that's that's I've always hated when people like say that someone's not around and because they're not put. Yeah. Or like they'll look at bench players and be like, what are you celebrating for? Dude, you're on the team. The matter. You're deeply a part of that team. That's how it works. Well, but it is interesting to hear him focusing on that because the last thing we heard was of course, him sort of intimating, hey, maybe the assessment of my injury is a little bit over the top. Like he really, it's like he started out saying, no, no, no, I need to play. I don't know why I'm not playing. And now he's also doing a little bit of like, hey guys, let's just remember, as long as you're here, you're part of the team, right? Or he's just kind of hedging a little bit, which I understand, by the way. Or is he just being a captain trying to let everybody who wasn't on the wild card roster

or guys that might not turn on the DS roster or guys that went over for and didn't contribute to say, hey, no, you're still a Yankee. You could still contribute. You're still a part of this team. Maybe he was just being a leader and trying to speak for all the guys that are kind of in issues. Maybe he wasn't thinking about himself at all. That's by the way, that's not a bad point either, Don. That would be the captain thing to do is to like show everybody. But it's hard at this point to not think he's also talking about himself when he's the best player on the team and he's unable to play. Yeah. It's hard to remove him from. You don't know. Yeah, you don't know what he did. If he had played, if he had played, and he was celebrating with Stanton who didn't play and said, this is my brother, he'll always be here with us. It doesn't matter. That takes totally different. Of course, it does. When you're the guy you didn't play. But what he's talking about is even if you didn't play and it's like, oh, that's right, you didn't play. So that's what we're trying to decipher. Now, are we overthinking it maybe? But because this is such, this is going to be such a story until game one begins until we find out who's on this roster for now, the ALDS.

And going forward, remember, I feel like I think you just give him more time. Who wants to play? But in my opinion, Don, I give him more time and say, if we are who we think we are, we're going to need an ALCS. And we'll get you right for the ALCS so that when the World Series comes and we might have to play, a really good Dodgers team. Yeah. Then we feel like you'll at least have some at-bats in your pocket and you could be right in time. Right in time. Well, if that's the case, then you figure he'll be on the roster because it's going to be a long series as far as time, day off between games one and two, day off between games two and three. Like so, but if he's not on the roster, then you can't really say that, right? Because now it's still more than a week away. And then you start to wonder, was he ever capable to play?
