So good, so good, so good. Nordstrom Rack is celebrating 125 years of Nordstrom with 125 of the best deals up to 65% off in stores and online. They're only here while supplies last. So shop today. Great brands, great prices. That's why you rack. This is the Don Han that Rosenberg podcast. That sounds like heaven to me. Listen live weekday afternoon starting at 3 on 880 ESPN. The ESPN New York app and your smart speakers. That's a tease. Yeah, 100 down. 1937. Don't offer a tease like you dream about Don. On and Rosenberg to the top of the hour and then it will be Dan Grasse from 7 to 730. For those of you listening on 880 and watching on YouTube. And on the app, Dan will be available right up until our coverage of the Yankees and the Red Sox starting at 730 here on ESPN, New York. And for those of you on MSG, you know, we'll take you right up until 7 o'clock and be back with you tomorrow at 3.
And don't forget that, that post vehicle tie baller tonight. So no, yeah, it doesn't end for you. Like the Yankee game ends. Well, we have we have coverage on MSG tonight. Don't we? Of islanders. Islanders. Yeah, but that's probably on MSG plus. Oh, that's. That's kind of CSN. I believe. It's just that it. Uh oh. There's a broadcast for the Islander tonight. I said a Miss Jason. Oh, I thought he said T. That's what it sounded like. Yeah, he said it really fast. From Auckland. We talked for three now. More dogs. I don't know how to do it. Don't fly. No, you see the wire hanging out of it, Jersey. Let's go to herning in the Bronx, Chinese ESPN, New York. What's up, RNA? All right. I'm sorry for. I need to apologize for for your loss. But tonight, that's all I don't deserve it anymore. I wanted to ask you guys. I think these guys think that Boone should have given Staten and at bat after they went up nine nothing.
And the only thing I want to compare it to is when he decided to go with Cortez and Stetahil and gain one of the World Series when Cortez had impched into him on the line. Mom, I can see an at bat tonight where he's going to try and use them against crochet. And he hasn't had an at bat since. Listen, I don't know if one at bat is going to make that big of a difference. A spoon did say today he thought about using him. I forget when exactly it was. I think it was when it was two nothing. And he decided against it. Here's the thing. What if he, what if he's just a decoy? Like what, what if he ends up looking awful? And then it's like, all right, well, it cuts out of the bag. He's not a threat. Because I think part of having him on the roster is Tracy like, oh, they're standing. We got to be careful. Don't go to a lefty because he might paint you for stand. And if stand in bats and a nine nothing game and looks like he can't even swing the bat, it's like, all right, that's over. You know, I used it for when you absolutely have to use it.
You almost used it didn't. But no, I really think one at bat's going to make that big of a difference. He's getting batting practice on all that. There's two ways to think about it though. It's just come, it's been months. It's since he's been in a game. It's like, just go ahead and just get an at bat and you're, you know, you think it'd make that big of it that I want to bat? I don't know. Honestly, don't know. I really think it's the latter. I think that, you know, he might just be a decoy. I agree with the idea that the threat of him probably right now has more impact than him actually in the effort. But a nine nothing, it's like, you know what? Yeah, save it. Save it is right. Because you know what else could happen? Ground ball and the jogs to first and balls down. Pop goes the reason because I have the way to save. Pop. Peter's in little falls. You're on ESPN New York. Yeah, hey guys, I love your show. I watch you on MSG. Oh, cool, man. I'm calling to talk about everybody's favorite subject injuries.
I'm wondering, does a tracking injuries, I'm calling myself mostly about football, per team and hearing and year out? Because I'm wondering, should we be looking for a new training staff, the same way we're looking for a new less tackle at the end of the year? Well, everything is tracked. But the one thing you never know about injuries, Peter, is what's going to happen on a certain play? Everybody's different. See, that's the difference with injuries, then like tracking trends on how often teams convert on fourth down or if I go for two, how often are we successful with it? Because everybody's different. Some guys come back from making a question the next week. Some guys, they're out for the season. Some guys can look at Adrian Peterson came back. Was it like the MCL and like played and say me like, I'm sure they track it, but I just don't know how accurate any of that stuff is. You track it, but what you just said, though, is really how it works.
Every case is different. Right. It's not, you can't just say the same injury. You can have the same injury to five different people and have five different recovery periods. It's just the way it is. But it's interesting. The injuries have really effect because you got a salary. Oh, it's massive. And you just can't replace your starting quarterback. Like it's easier to replace Aaron Judge than it is your starting quarterback. Think about it. Because you can get offence from other places. And even if you're not going to be able to replace Judge in the immediate, like at that, find a right builder that is good as Judge, you can kind of Jimmy switch things around to at least keep up appearances. I mean, but the drop off in a cap era from one quarterback to the other. Yeah, the commanders got to figure it out. They're there for it. Giants thought they did with James Winston, but in most cases, it's, it's, it's, it's amazing. It is amazing though to look at this last week and have six quarterbacks who didn't start the season all win. It's like in one sense, it's impossible to find a quarter.
Never happened. This is never, yeah, yeah. I believe that. Well, by the way, I feel like it's, I feel like there's never even been that many six quarterbacks. It's week three. Right. It was too soon. It's, it's, it's just a great, and the thing about it, Aaron Judge, you could have a three game set and Aaron Judge could go one for 12. And the Yankees could sweep the series. Right. In the NFL, you, you cornerback cannot stick it up over and over. You might, you might survive a game with your quarterbacks, taking it up, but not regularly. Honestly, the Giants survived Sunday because it was the tights. That's right. What other team they would have beaten the dolphins? Who else would they have beaten? I mean, it's early in the season to know all the teams that are bad, but like if they were playing the 49ers or the Vikings or anybody, they lose and now they're one and two. And not having your starting quarterback question to games, they survived because it was Tennessee. And they may survive next week because it's Arizona, but at some point, you know, it just
changes every day. They survived because Tennessee at the half gave them, it was, it was six point turnaround. I mean, they, they're kicking a 59 year feel goal. It was dumb. They gave them feel position, right? Yeah. And then they go down and they get three and you don't get three and they get three and you should have known right out of the box. You see fumbles, the kickoff, the start, the game and the giants have the balls like the 40. Don't even get in field. That's that's by the way. I go such an easy. I was like, oh my God. This is going to be, it's going to be tough. Harry Douglas here. Game day brings the excitement. Your stage should feel just as memorable. Now the pressure majorly baseball attendance rose for the fourth straight year to 71.75 million reaching its highest total since back in 2017. Okay. Now part of that was a boost from the raise returning to tropical canopy. Oh, wait. We don't have any money. Yes. Teams average 29,589 over 2,425 dates.
That's a 0.4% increase from the average last year. Now we're talking about this year, the A's still playing a smaller park, right? Yep. And last year, the A's played a small park and the raise played in a small park, right? Yes. Like they said, they obviously were benefiting going back. Yeah. So the jump from last year's one thing, but you're still counting a huge increase since 2017. That includes one team that's playing in a minor league ballpark. And now how about this? That's significant. 13 teams had attendance increases. 13. 17 dropped. Well, that just means the increases were bigger than the decreases, right? Mm-hmm. They had to, man. The biggest decline. Mm. The New York metropolitan. I was wondering if that was going to be 472,000 less attendees this year. Obviously the 12 game losing streak in April. That might have hurt. Well, you know what's interesting? I did feel for a team that had been out of it for so long.
I thought the attendance wasn't bad, considering how bad the meds were at times. Well, I guess relative to other teams, they probably would have. Yeah, but they had a drop based off of what? Last year. Last year, even though it was disappointing, was a season that started with a lot of anticipation because of going up in the previous year. So people were buying tickets. Right. Yeah, good. That's not how people in the building, right? That's tickets out. Yes. So we can't look at attendance as seats filled. Seats bought. So those seats could just be empty because I don't want to go or I couldn't sell the thing. But you'll buy the tickets at the start of a season like last year was, which was an anticipation building off of going to the NLCS. It makes sense. And the drop off is because you didn't expect the same thing this year. Rich Eisen here with some advice. We're a few days, Reppentale 3 to the start. Have you read the article of the athletic involving Cat and is that? Yes. You're involving him because of many years ago, the Jimmy Butler and Cat and Rikers used to play with the Minnesota. They left on forcing of bad terms and pretty much that Jimmy Butler called out Cat and
Rikers as wingsers. Now, far for eight years later, who got the last last? Yeah, well, Jimmy's still trying to get a championship and Cat's got one. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Look, when you win a championship, you can say whatever you want to say. And that's his get back. That was the thing that he and Jimmy have had a back and forth and he knows, people don't really know the true story about what happened that day. They all think it was more about Cat and more about Wigid and No. It was Jimmy Butler who he wears out welcomes, everywhere he goes, it gets frustrated and all that stuff. But Carl, Carl Towns, the dad, he wanted a chance to say something that his son would never say. So he said, oh, by the way, you said Carl Towns. Yeah. Wendy, go there when you did NBA today. No, you were prepared though. Yeah.
Of course I was. But the one day he was in studio the other day he was not. So there's not much I could have done the next if he had done it though, would you have hit him with a griffin? What Peter? What Wendy? Yeah. Excuse me. Who? Yeah, no, I, we would have we would handle it. I wasn't worried. Terry. And Elmira, listening to our show in Delight. What's up, Terry? Tell our guys. What's up, Terry? Hey, I was in a bar with a bunch of guys in Elmira, New York. If you go on a state line, we're directly halfway between Buffalo and New York and I'm very patriotic. And I remember going to see a giant around the 62, I think. But what I want to know, I want to, I made a bet saying that giants were the first one in the world, and red, white, and blue, and Buffalo idiots, excuse me, said no, we were the first. Can you find out?
Well, it's going to cost me a bunch of wings and beer. Well, listen, the Buffalo bills started when the AFL started in 1960, the giants were wearing red, white, and blue before 1960. Yeah, so that's the answer. That's what I figured. That's what I figured, but I want to hear from the school of dawn, so I know that's true. And since 1925, their colors have been red, white, blue, and blue. You have to educate those guys and say, listen, the Buffalo bills are good and all that, but 1960, they started. And the giants had already won championships before then, so yeah, that's an easy one. Yeah, yeah. Congratulations, enjoy the beer and wings. This one, I think this is going to set me off, but we're going to do it. This is what you want to do. I don't want to do it. No, it's been a good show. No, it still could be a good show. Don't touch the button. It could be a great show. I'm saying don't do it. I've got, listen, I've literally have the angel and the devil on my shoulders. You're going to regret it. Richard and you might lose all. He hits a ball.
No, he didn't. No, he didn't. Sorry, if the Yankees lose these two games, correct me if I'm wrong. It'll be the first time in New York sports history to three mages that a New York team winning had to win one out of two games at home and didn't get it done. Do you know of any other time? I don't. Oh, there's got to be a time though. Okay. No, we'll lose. And that's all we know. That's all we're doing. There's no back and forth. He's not going to agree with you. He does. He said, let me think. He'd say no, never happened. The job. I believe he moves on to the next topic. All right. Here it is. If we get the ball, it's New Jersey, not New York in 2001. Now that was in Colorado. So I don't, there has to be a team that was home up three games to two and lost games. Oh, three Yankees. Oh, yeah, with the Ireland's. No, the red stuff. Wait, oh, well, that too. Well, that's right. We don't have to go that far back. We don't even have to change the teams.
Wait, he's right. That's the situation. Right. What? He presented it to me as a elimination game that horse. Yes, they played both at home. Oh, you mean, oh, four, the. The old four, not a three game. The old four and game seven blowing the three of the series. Oh, four that they were up. Yeah, three games that two going back to Yankee Stadium and lost both games again. We're still right, but it was two three two. It's all yeah, the two three two three two. Yeah, sure. So, yeah, the game six and seven were at Yankee Stadium. So there you go. Bang. But his original point to me was would it be the worst and all they had to do was one of the worst collapse in New York sports? And the answer to the questions. No, no, no, no, no. He wins every time he didn't say that he didn't. He did to me. Don't tell me he didn't say to me. You know, I know that's what that was the slog. That's what I was prepared. You're you're telling me that Richard said to you, if the Yankees didn't beat the Astros in the wild card, that would be. It's not even the worst Yankee collapse against the red socks.
Yeah. But how could you make that mistake? It's the greatest collapse in the history of sports. Look what you're doing. Look what you. Oh, what are you doing? You know, what you're right, Alan? I'm sorry. You fought for it again, but at least that in the tailpipe. But he pivoted. Give him credit. Because I think he realized when he was on hold for 167 minutes, that the question was more on it. So he pivoted and he pivoted to has there ever been a New York team to have two chances at home elimination to eliminate an opponent and fail. There has to be and obviously we know in 2003 that it happened. I'm sure it's happened a bunch of times. Matter of fact, at home didn't know that was in LA. So I have to think about it. Yeah, I'm sure it's happened. I just don't know if all those best of sevens in the first round, second round. I'm sure it's happened to the Rangers. I don't know. Yeah, but a chance to win the series.
So basically, yeah, you'd have to be. You'd have to be. You'd have to eliminate the opponent. You'd have to be up either. 3, 3, 1, 2, 1. Yeah, something like that. 3, 1 or 3, 1 and then you were up 3, 3. Under the current formats, I think you're going to be up 3, 3. It happened. Would be up 3, 2 and a best of seven or up 1, 0 and a best of three. Well, the most situations would have to be a game four and a game seven. Right. You're saying back to back. No, a game five or a game seven. You're saying back to back. So that means either being up 3, 2 with game six and seven at home or in the wild car. This isn't worth talking about this. It is because you know what? It's the end of the show and we're just. Why don't I ask you something? Please do it. Do you guys believe this story? Do you see this? What story? That a guy bought a storage unit content like the contents of the unit for 100. They auction them off. Yeah, by the way, it's very sad. When you think about how they get this. It's abandoned. And a guy paid a hundred bucks to get the contents of the storage unit. And you don't know what's in it.
You just open it and they opened it and a bat mobile that was used in one of the movies was in the. Come on, storage unit. I'd say he got his money back. Well, they are. Those are the, they do, they've done reality shows. Your storage wars, good show. Yeah. That's pretty cool, right? It just, it makes me sad. It's also the premise of the Minecraft movie if you saw it. It really? It really? Apparently, Mike Tomman loves Minecraft. Mike Tomman, by the way, it's not happening. Really? With 30 seconds left to the show, that's the hot thing. There's nothing. We're three weeks in there. I'm gonna give him time. Right. They think he's amazing. Who does? People. People. Which part? They think it's amazing. That he's opinionated. That he's, that he's, that he's, that he's, that he's, that he's, that he's, that he's that stuff. I just respect broadcasting. His voice just doesn't carry on the, it's like good. You know, sorry. Well, that's part of it. Hey, enjoy the game tonight. Yeah. Shut up. All right. So, who are you, Mike Tomman? MSG will talk to you again at three o'clock for everybody else staying glasses. But, what do you think of the pre-game of Game 2 between the Yankees and the Red Sides? So, I wonder if she's, bye. Thanks for listening to my Don Han and Rosenberg podcast.
I don't want to know how the sausage is made. I just want to know it's good. Here more of Don, Alan and Peter, weekday afternoon starting at three on 880 ESPN, the ESPN New York app and your smart speakers.
