This is the Don Han and Rosenberg podcast. That sounds like heaven to me! Listen live weekday afternoon starting at 3 on 880 ESPN, the ESPN New York app and your smart speakers. Time out for the Kimberly Marne report. It's brought to you by Super Bowl 61. Kimberly bounces around usually the Ohio area. So, she frequents the Ohio region. What city? What city in Ohio are you this week? Hello boys. I am back in Ohio last week. I was in Cleveland. This weekend I am going back to Cincinnati.
At this point, if any realtors want to get in touch with me, I think I need a crash start in Ohio. It's just insane. It's insane. They ever give an NFL franchise to Columbus. Kimberly Marne. She's there. She's quitting on the spot. I'm done. Although Travis says there's some really nice, they have apparently had the beautiful spacious mansion in that area. Oh no, and by the way, this is an upsetting moment. Why? Because this has to be, I want you to look up at Kimberly and tell me if this is a moment of realization for you. What? What? She's flexing with all the Jordans? No, but this is the first time, is it the first time you realize she's not actually sitting in front of those Jordans as we speak. What? She's on Ohio. No, she's going to be. Oh, I thought she was already there. We thought that was green screen. I think you could take like the right. Did you really think I was? I thought you took a picture of your state of the relationship.
No, I would not go through all that. No. Kimberly, he's been doing this all day. He's just been needle in people. That's worse than a little. What's what's the deal? What's he's he's on one? He's in a mood today. No, what's the problem? I'm in a great mood. I'm watching Jayden Daniels as we speak through the polls. I was just not to say Jayden Daniels on the practice field. He's got a little brace on more importantly. Yeah, guys, guess what I watched? Guess what I watched? Wow. Sleepless in CS. Wow. What are your thoughts? Well, first of all, my thoughts before you say you're the greatest guest we've ever had. You're better than Don. I'm requesting to have you replace them on the show. Yeah, because he hasn't even considered watching it. You already did it. Tell her, Damien Woody, we had all season asked him to watch one movie. Never did. Never watched it. So you've already this is guy rocket number one. So what were your thoughts on sleepless in Seattle?
Okay. Can we just talk about how Meg Ryan was doing a little too much? Thank you. Stalker. Absolutely. I have never loved a man that much where I'm going to Google exactly where he lives and just fly over there. Pre-Google, by the way. It's an actual research. She was literally on that keyboard. Like it was bad. Cute. It's no monster in law. It's no monster in law. It's no, it's no the wedding planner. I'll tell you that. It was. It was. By the way, I got to tell you the truth. Watching last week I enjoyed it. It's a lovely little movie. It's not that great. Was it? Is the precocious little kid adorable? Yes. Does he carry the movie? Absolutely. Really does. Outside of that, I was like Meg. Poor, like Meg's fiance. Walter. Oh, my. Walter. By the way, this guy, I don't deserve you.
You're too good for me. And he's like, uh, yeah, kind of. But by the way, in closing, I will say though, that's how you know he was going to be all right, either way and probably playing on cheating on her one day, because she's like, hey, I'm breaking up with you. And he's like, all right, cool, man. Cool. Nice. Good. That's good. You take care. You want me to take the check? I'll take the check. I'll take the check. Give me the ring back. I'll get the check. Yeah. Okay. Can I also say Peter, this kind of does look like a green screen behind you. It does look. It's crazy. It does look like a green screen. It's not. It's not. But it's really does. It's totally real. It's totally real. Are those actually my Jalen P.E.s right there? Yeah. Yeah, they are. Yeah, they are. My co-beans. My co-beans. Yeah. Those are real. But by the way, is it the worst idea at this point? Is it the worst idea to take a high quality picture of this, though? And whenever she does our show, wherever she is, this is the background. It actually is the background. It actually is the background.
Not bad. And when she's in studio, we'll just put it behind her. It really does. It really does. It really does. Me and the little bit. Like it really does look like it's fake. Anyway, Don, I'm high. Good to see you. I did the homework assignment and you did it. I did. That is open. That Don. I'm a bad guy. He's had a few of those recently. Don't forget. He welched on a promise a couple of weeks ago. Did you see what Kimmelie did, though? What's that? Went right up to the teacher's desk, put down her assignment, put down an apple, and looked at Don and goes, he didn't bring his. Yeah, that is a wonderful thing. You know what? I'll find a way to survive and ask a question. Go ahead. Go ahead. So we've been, you know, the back and forth with the Jets. We understand there are no more moral victories. Jet fans are sick of hearing. But a lot of good has come from some of these losses, but they just don't know how to win. So is that a player thing? Is that a coaching thing? Is it a collective? Because when it comes to winning time, everybody seems to drop the ball. I had a coach tell me a few years ago, it takes a long time to learn how to win.
And it sounds silly, but I think what did you want to see from the Jets this year? In all seriousness, you wanted them to be competitive. Did you think they were going to, like if somebody said, if I told you I thought they would win eight games? I don't think we have this conversation. You're kind of like eight games. That's, you know. So for me, it's, what did you expect their record to be come season end on? Because if you were thinking this is a team that would only win four games, five games, all right, you're still on track. I think what I wanted to see as a team that's going to win seven, eight would be competitive and all would not just every week that they're playing someone. Those other teams aren't thinking, all right, that's a W right there. I think that Wagonal has played very well. I was curious what Geno we would see, the Seattle Geno or the Raiders Geno. I think it's clear that what was happening in Las Vegas with the old coaching staff had a lot to do with where the team was. He's done well. Yes, would you like to see them close out games, of course.
But save for the Aaron Glen of it all and the, you know, late game management and stuff like that. I think there are a lot of positives. I'm not going to let you bring me down, Don. I'm not. I'm just not going to have it today. I think Jets fans should feel pretty good, right, Alan? I would say though, what the quote that that coach told you about learning to how to win, we're going to need to see progress at some point though with him because end of half end of games, costing your team an opportunity to win is something that I'll, I said this after the, I said it on Monday. We have to sometimes let a rookie coach develop and he has a rookie coach. He is in his second year, but this last year was an abomination. So he has to still learn how to become a real head coach, just like a quarterback, got to learn. He has to learn. And that's fine. I'm fine with it. As long as we start seeing evidence that he is learning and that end of that game and these half times have kind of, you know, given me this feeling of like he, he doesn't
have to be able to do anything. Get it yet. And that's what I worry. That's all. That's the one. Alan, Alan, I'm not letting you bring me down either. I'm not letting you bring me down either. I'm not letting you bring me down either. I'm not letting you bring me down either. I'm not letting you bring me down either. Didn't I, I gave you the cultures better, but we still got to see him, him develop. I get it. Okay. I guess because I think about, they're not the same guy, but I think about Dan Campbell and that original lion staff that he had put together. Like it took Dan Campbell a while to get to the point of, oh, this team legit. Like it, like you even said, Alan, last year in Abomination, I think Aaron Glenn came in to year two understanding. There are a lot of mistakes that Aaron Glenn made. So I do think you have seen progress. We've only had three weeks of a season, guys. Now, if we have in the same conversation, week six and week seven about, does this van know how, how to sort of coach for these sort of late game situations? Does he know how to make the right adjustments? Does he know how to call time out to the right time? Then I think that's a different conversation, but it is, we've only had three weeks of
season and furthermore. I don't think, you know, for me, this is the preseason. September is the preseason. That's right. I'm sorry. So we have less preseason games, less guys play. I think September is the, who are these teams? What is even happening? I think by October, end of October, we have a better set of teams right now. All right. So with that in mind, of the wacky things that we've seen came out so far and there's been plenty of them, whether it's the record of the teams in the AFC North, particularly the Browns, you know, some of the, some of the play we've seen from the Saints. What's out there that you've seen so far that you think will prove to be not unannomably, but something that we actually just all got wrong and this team is actually very good or very bad. Interesting. I am curious how good the Raiders are. That's a perfect three and a half. Because we have a tenant, I'll speak for myself, Tennessee. I'm like, I want to see what they do against the chiefs.
That will be the clear litmus test. I'm blanking on the schedule. I had it earlier in my head, but after the chiefs, like they don't have an eat the Falcons too. Like the Falcons. They're at Patriots. They're, their chiefs at Patriots, home bills, home rams. Wow. That's the Raiders. That's right. Right. So I say all that not to discredit what they've done to this point. Being three and a one, I didn't have them three and a, I didn't have Kirk O'Chains coming in actually playing well. I didn't, I didn't foresee that, and especially with a rookie head coach. So yeah, I want to see how they fare. If I would be surprised if they beat the chiefs, but they are playing at home. This is a different Raiders team, different head coach. So we'll see. Also, I think the Falcons people are now like, oh, they got their quarterback. Okay. I want to see another game of Michael Penix. I want to see, especially we talked about the packer sort of being in disarray right now. And the rams. I'm, I'm curious. Like I think people felt like once they beat the giants, it's like, oh, they're back.
For me, them beating the giants when the Giants quarterback got hurt in the game. That wasn't enough for me. I still want to see no miles. Pukas supposed to be playing this, is expected to play this weekend. So kind of want to see what the rams are going for. It'll be interesting to see if the super team everybody expected to be a lot to be in the NFC title game. If they actually are as good as advertised. I'm talking to Kimberly Mariner, weekly spot here on Don Hahn and Rosenberg. All right. Bring out your crystal ball. When or if we will we see J.J. McCarthy starting at quarterback for the Giants? Okay. Now, this is interesting. Isn't it guys? Because if you look at their schedules, they're by week, I believe is week nine. I believe. So you think or they're by week is week eight, something like that. So you think, okay, by week seems like the right, right time to bring in the new guy. But will J.J. Miss play well enough to get you to week eight?
I don't know. I really don't know. I think he will play better than he has. But I feel like if I'm the Giants, I don't want to see J.J. McCarthy right away. Because if you see J.J. McCarthy right away, that means your backup who you had this whole time wasn't up to snuff and J.J. McCarthy just got here. Do I like this trade? I don't. I don't. But I get it because John Harbock didn't come, didn't get fired from the Ravens and come to and handpicked the Giants to lose. He's not coming here to lose, right? So I understand you lose your quarterback this early. You have to say, well, the season is far from over. So James scuffle, like James is on a short leash. So if we see if we see J.J. sooner than later, I don't think that's a great thing. I really don't. What are you guys? I'm not loving it. I don't have much of a leg to stand on. I do think Winston will be better.
Some built it excuses. What happened in LA short, you know, coming in not realizing that he was going to have to start, obviously not ready. Short week, awful weather against the Titans. Let's see how he looks against Arizona. The problem, Kimberly, is there's no soft landing spot. You're at Washington, maybe home against the Saints at Houston and coming out of the buy, you're at Philly. Now, Philly hasn't, isn't the defense we're used to, but that's going to be really an important game. Followed by a home game against Washington, home against Jacksonville. There doesn't seem to be any, oh, let's have him play against this team. That should be easy. I don't know if there is even going to, you know, I would probably bet we won't see him. Well, because it takes a long time to figure out this offense. I think Winston will start to play a little bit better. I just think they saw an opportunity to get a 10th overall pick for a fifth round pick. I don't know if it was specifically. And you are. Well, that's what that's, Kimberly, that's why I wanted to ask you is because you, you obviously hear a lot about the Ramileague and I'm sure there's been a lot of conversation
since the trade, but also, you know, each off season about McCarthy in Minnesota. And so we all like see him as like John just said. It's a guy that was like a 10th pick. This is a guy that, you know, the, the giant's actually thought about at the draft. This is a guy that seemingly as a rookie won the job and then injured himself and then hasn't been able to win the job since. What is the true story about J.G. McCarthy in Minnesota? Well, they, they were all in on it. The story is, Sam Darnold is somewhere else, winning a Super Bowl. You've got Daniel Jones somewhere else. I think in Minnesota, they thought they had a young prospect who had a high ceiling. But what ended up happening there is the sense that I got in, in covering the team a lot over the past couple years is sort of like. But everything you need to do, it's not just being on the field, like the preparation in terms of being a quarterback, understanding everything that comes with that position,
that role, like there was like some sort of disconnect, like a lack of maturity in some respects and it just didn't get better, which is, is wild to think about considering a GM lost his job. And the head coach was all in on a J.J. McCart, you know what I mean? Like those decisions in that building are not made without Kevin O'Connell. It's, you know, it's not like one GM that's just out there just doing everything by himself. So there was buy-in from everybody in this kid and now for them to already say, okay, this isn't working, I was very surprised by that. I was surprised they got anything for him. Now, Kimberly, bring up a good point, like why would you make the trade if you're not going to play him? But if Winston's looked bad, his first two starts and you are two and one, you are tied for first place. Now, I don't think that's going to last, but you want to see it through. You're not going to bring in a quarterback that might take a month to learn the offense
and get acclimated. You would bring in a veteran that can kind of jump in. So it doesn't feel like there, there's a sense of urgency to have him start right away. Otherwise, you'd get a quarterback that could start right away. So I think it's kind of a slow burn and I don't think Winston will give that opportunity. I think he will play better. I know he's inconsistent. He's clearly not the answer. He's a backup quarterback for a reason. But I do think he can lie, maybe the cardinals, a little bit better of a situation. I don't, I would definitely bet later than sooner we would see JJ Fittle. Here's the one pushback and I totally understand everything you're saying. The one pushback I have is if you are the giants and every other team knows that you are desperate. You are calling around asking about what team is giving up their veteran backup. There's a reason veteran backups are, we've seen it even in Minnesota. Kyler goes down, well, they have cars and went.
We're seeing so many backups playing right now that in terms of what teams are going to give you, I think it was small. You weren't going to have a ton of options. I think the idea, the last thing I'll say about Jay-Jama McCarthy is if he doesn't start, I wonder when Dart comes back, right? Is this sort of insurance for early next season? I don't know when Dart will be back. I don't know how he will look when he does come back. But to me, it's just another young guy who's a project. I would describe Jay-Jama McCarthy as a project. I wouldn't want a project when I still have a quarterback, a running back, and a wide receiver who all have missed time and have only played two snaps again. It's like 40-something snaps total together. But I just don't like that in the mix. I think John, again, John Harbaugh is not coming here to lose. He's not coming here to have a losing season. He's not going to look in this locker room and say, this season's a wash. He's going to say, hey, we've got a guy who's mobile.
He can be good on the run and we'll see what Jay-Jama does. Just two seconds. If you had to go with a gut instinct, Daniel's plays in London this weekend or they go back to Marriota. Oh, God. I would say Marriota only because I want to make sure that Daniel's is 100% good. I would say Marriota to be safe. I would think that's the prudent move. There's no front. There's no front. There's no front. No. Not a ton of vaudev cults, defense. You played great last week. Why rush the kid back? Yeah, exactly. Come on, Joyce Inc. and Addy. Get some chili. I always do. I, in. You don't. We're not doing skyline. No shade since, since Addy, but no. No, nothing. And we'll talk. Hey, I'm done. How about you watch a movie? I'm not talking about it as a group. How about you do that? I just called you out. Don. Well, not that I've been fed myself. I have twins. I have another job. I can do whatever I want. I can do whatever I want. You know, because my name is first on the show.
Don. Don's the first human to ever have a job and children. Yeah. I don't know how he does it. He's an inspiration real doll. Wait, I don't think this is his only job. Don goes up. He delivers bread every morning at 5 a.m. He's trying to make the doughnut. He's delivering the bread. Yeah, don. Adjust your halo. It's a little crooked. I know. Thank you, K-Mart. Good talking to you guys. Later. Believe me, I'm making a trip to Dallas at the end of the month. I'll be looking for something to watch for sure. So the White Socks are up for nothing on the a**dros good. Good bye. Yeah, exactly. All right. I'm sure Yankee fans can all agree on that and also the fact that you finished 500. In a normal 162kc. For Gaze Division title, you should. You shouldn't get to host. And I don't care. And the White Socks are a very interesting story. This is a team that tied the Met's record a couple of years ago for losses in a season with 120. I think they had like a hundred and three hundred and 24 losses in a two-year span. They miss out winning the division. So I have to play the wildcard round. It looks like they're going to make short work of the a**dros here. And then move on. So good for them. We'll see if the Cubs can survive. They lost last night. They lost last night. They lost last night.
Yeah, they lost last night. They lost last night. They lost last night. I got to say nothing. God, the teacher in your is really good. You think? Yeah. And I think, and honestly, Peter, the pageories are scary good. You know the brores are good and nobody's giving the brores anytime because the brores never seem to do anything in the post season. And everybody's just got all the dodgers are going to go to the world series. Watch out for this San Diego team. They could be scary and they could find their way. So all these Yankee fans that, or people are like, oh well the Yankees can go to the world series. of the world series but I can win that gotta be the Dodgers and might not be the Dodgers. First of all, I don't say they can't do anything. But everybody just thinks the forecon conclusion of the Dodgers are gonna go. It's really hard to go to the world series three straight times and the Dodgers are good, the Brewers are good. So it'll be interesting to see who comes out of the nationally. Clearly the national league's better than the American league but you get to the best of the seven series, anything can happen. But the Yankees have set themselves up nice. They short work the Red Sox last night, take care of business tonight, sit back, get everything set Saturday night, get started in Tampa, six of what did I say?
Six thirty, thirty vehicle nights early. Well, they like it. That's how they do it in Florida. Oh yeah. Well, they do is they go to the early bird specials for thirty, for thirty dinner, you know, they're nice. Get over to the park. Yeah, get to the park. Takes a while to get there. Takes a while to get in the park. You got a park. You got a park. What? I don't know. What's the Florida accent? Actually, the Florida accent's probably Boston, and New York. Yeah, it's more New York. You're looking for more than you. It's like a co-burst down that way though. Like Fort Myers, it's all Boston. You get like, you get a combination of the accents. In fact, this is going to be a lot of Yankees fans. There you go. Yeah, let's just do that. I think you'll be able to live with that no problem. Let's go to Jeremy. He's in Basque and Ridge, your own ESPN New York. What's up, Jeremy? Jeremy. Hey guys, nice to talk to you all. Hi guys. So, Alan, I was at the mail pack last night at the show with Mike and Clyde that you
moderated. That was amazing, wonderful job by you. Thanks. It was so much fun. That was the atmosphere. Wasn't that great? Yeah. Like, it really, like the crowd was phenomenal. It was so much fun. Yeah, it was like a big celebration. I went with my dad and that was just an awesome thing to be honest because we actually weren't together when the next clinch won the final. So it was nice for us to be together at that. It was kind of like another opportunity to celebrate the finals and celebrate Mike and Clyde and having you guys talked about. That was close to together. They're hilarious. The way Mike and Clyde feed off each other and then rip on each other. It was an hour and a half and it went by in a bowl. I'll say that. But thank you. What was your checkpoint? Yeah, I could listen. Yeah, of course. The jet point. You guys, I think, touched on this with Kindle a little bit.
But like big picture with the jets were kind of waiting to see what they'll end up looking like this year and kind of grading them on a curve a little bit. I'm just curious. Do you look at this season that if we get the end of the year and it seems like the last year's definitely improved, we're starting to see a little bit. But maybe they haven't quite won those like eight games that everybody keep them. I've never ever been to keep throwing around. If Aaron Glenn by the end of the year hasn't really like shown the game management thing has kind of improved for him and hasn't made that progress. Can we still look at this year's success if you maybe find out that he might not be the guy. They're now going forward. I thought we, not that we all agreed, but I thought the feeling was this year was about the coach. Yeah. Find out if you have a coach. What you're saying is if the team has a win total that you'd say is a pretty, pretty good win total. But yet they're winning, but we're not really convinced. Well, I think that's what he's saying. Well, here's the thing. Well, if they win eight games, then you can't say the coach was that bad because then
they would start to figure out the win games, right? Well, there's 14 games left. You're asking them to win half of them if you're going to get to eight. If he can win half of the games remaining, then obviously he started to figure it out, right? Because there's some, you know, you got the bills twice. That's going to be tough. You know, you got some hard, you got to, there's going to be games where they're not in, right? You're not going to be in every game you play. There's going to be some games you get blown out. There's going to be some games where the team is just better than you, but you've already blown two games where you could very easily won and didn't. How many of those opportunities are going to present themselves? If he wins half of the games remaining, then you probably would feel pretty good about Erangeline, right? So if they win eight games, I think I think that I think he can survive another year. If you get to eight, I think there's a reason to feel good about the direction. You certainly aren't going to say blow the whole thing up. And I still say before you say you got to get rid of the coach, you've got to tell me who you're bringing in that's going to be better. Another rookie coach and you're hoping he's going to be better.
There is no harbors unless Tomlin does the unthinkable and I'm telling you, I don't believe that he would have an interest in coaching the jets when there will be other opportunities for him that might be better. I just don't think he'd want to come in and coach this team. So who is going to be better? You might have to live with what Kimberly said that a coach told her it took me a little while to learn how to win. And maybe Aaron Glenn has to do that. But to win half of their games, you're at Chicago. That's going to be tough. Right. The bears look good. Yeah. And I would think K18 is going to be the starting quarter. Right. All right. So Chicago. Cleveland at home. That looks like a lot tougher. But if you're going to win half of your games, you're going to be clear. You got that. That's a matter of how good Cleveland's playing. That's a you got to win that. All right. You want to play the split game with the Patriots because the Patriots haven't looked good. Yeah. I think split. So so say you lose at New England. You got to beat Miami. Now Vegas all of a sudden looks like, well, wait a minute. That was supposed to be a win. I don't know. At Kansas City, you figure's a loss home against the bills. I can't play split with the bills.
The bills may want to be one of the best teams of football. They always split with the bills though. But historically, they always split. Oh, have you want to play that game? All right. Split with the bills. All right. So that's be Cleveland split with the bills. That's two split with the Patriots. That's three. Beat the dolphins twice. That's five. All right. At Chargers. I would put that down. All right. Then that's six. Right now. Denver. Well, season long. Denver, probably not. No. At Arizona. Now you're at seven. There you go. All right. Well, there's your seven. Arizona is going to reach a point of the season. And you already have one there. How late in the season? That's week 15. Oh, yeah. December 20. They'll be pulling the shoot. Right. But then you close out home against the wingland home against Minnesota at Buffalo. And so at Arizona, maybe you're a lot. But if I had to say seven, it might be the game. If fans say we need to lose this game because we don't want them getting higher picked than us. But if you're already at six, seven wins, I know those will just win games, right? You know, of course. But I just said seven. You already got to win that's eight.
So you're eight nine. So if you get to eight nine, you're not firing your coat, which by the way, what? I'd be there best. Was that not be their best record? Yeah. That's why I'm not buying it. I mean, you know, we all say what looks like on pop. Well, what it looks like on paper. Well, we just we all have such memories of it, but not be. You're right. We were very gracious in giving them. We give them lit against the Patriots and the pills. That was very gracious. Oh, Cardinals. No problem. Hey, listen, that charger game. I don't know. Chargers might figure it out that that charger game is. I just have a lot of problems. Is November 22nd. Yeah, but the to Don's point, Chargers. Probably you're going to be bad. But they've also been in games all of a sudden. Things start falling the other way and it just doesn't feel the same way. No, fans does not look right. Well, I mean, they're not playing the 85 bears. They're playing the jets. Well, I mean, I give them a fight in chance. All right. They had the bills on the ropes to the last second and Buffalo. The other day, I think they can battle with the jet. I'm the first one to say the whole jets thing, right? I'm the first one to do it. And you know, I've been skeptical, but I'm not going to do that.
I'm not going to do like, well, they're the jets. So they're going to lose that game. I don't know. No, no, I win though. The jets are now because the jets have sort of become this wild card team of, I don't know what you get. I don't know what can happen, but I know you better. You can't just show up and think you're just going to be them because they're the jets. They're not that anymore. Well, you're right. Eight wins by the way would be there. I thought so. They've only had seven wins three times in the last 11 season. Well, like they like they get to eight wins. Believe it or not, that would be their mo their highest win total since 2015. Yeah, because it's embarrassing. They haven't had a winning season. And with those with those 16 games, that would have been at least a 500 if you want. Seven or not. But hey, they were, they should have beat the Packers. I wouldn't say they should have beat the Lions, but they were, they hung with the line. They had a chance to beat the one. And we'll see what happens with the Bears Cleveland. You know, you got to start winning games. You can't all of a sudden lose four, five in a row. Eventually, guys are going to be like, you got no hold this week. I mean, you're looking at the possibility of riding a three game losing street going back home to clean. The Bears game though, as much as I completely admit that that Bears team is well coached
and they are well prepared and they have a better defense than anybody's given credit for. I also will say case kingdom for the one game was sort of a, well, right? Because you didn't expect it. It was his first start in a long time. We know he's a quality back. That's why it's been a league for 14 years. But now that you've seen it on film, don't you think you have the advantage of, okay? Like we know what to expect. Yeah. I'm not saying they're definitely losing the Chicago, but you also, no breeze hole. So that, that's certain. I don't love that. Right. I'm saying, you know, tough environment to play, but listen, I think they're going to hang. It's September. I should still, well, it's September for one more day. I should still be allowed to have a little bit of optimism and curiosity about my team before I'm ready to just start saying, yeah, that's a loss. That's a loss where the judge we're not supposed to win. Yeah. I'm not ready for that. You shouldn't have to play that game. I agree with you. Let's go to Rob and Limbrook. You're on ESPN, New York. What's up, Rob? Yeah, that may sound like. Rob.
Well, I think that you have to just experience growing pain. You can see the enthusiasm. Our ground stage and this team takes the fuel and you run to them. Those that find plays on the bar, you know, what we do that past for the two-packing version. That was immediately. I think that was craft. What was that? You're offensive. You're offensive line in the last two games. You were moving when he came out of field, going into a three and a 30. You took it, so I'll probably get in there. I thought you were going to see a good team emerge. I like to see the evening. But if you start darting, getting rid of Glenn and the G.L. This team's never going to cultivate. And that's, you know, remember when the Jets start to come around the early 80s? The team started building. They really started to become a power out. That's what I think this team has the benchmark to do. We've got to keep him.
Yeah. Well, well, we say you want to keep him, but got to keep him. I mean, I saw a giant team have like six games they should have won last year. They won four overall and Dable got fired. All right. That was cutting down his first year. They went to the playoffs and then in his fourth year, he gets fired. Now, this is only the second year for Glenn. So I think he's going to survive. But you got to start winning some of these games. That's all you can't, you can't go three and 14 and go, well, there were seven eight games. We could have won. And we didn't. That's a problem. Now I don't think that'll be the case. I think if they continue to play the way they're playing, I think they're getting eight wins. But let's see it. So far, it's good. They had a great win against Tennessee. Very competitive against Green Bay. Very competitive against Detroit. If that keeps off, they're going to win their share game. But I am what? Tennessee is horrible. Green Bay is bad. Detroit has one of the worst defense in the league. I can't. I can't. I can't play it.
I'm playing. No, I know. But you didn't only want one of them. I just didn't think bad teams. You want to make the case that the Jets played Tennessee better than the Giants and Eagles did. Giants and Eagles almost lost a Tennessee. The Jets beat him pillar to post. Yeah. Yeah. I know. We know that in Tennessee. Sure. But now for that game, that game they had a fail. No, that game didn't. It fell over. But that's almost like part of it. Yeah, it was first game of the season. A week later, a week later, Tennessee plays better. Another week later, they play pretty close to the Giants. I'm not going to, by the way, we're not world beaters on Sunday. I'm not going to fight you because you have every right to maintain skepticism. They have earned this. So it's as much as I want to argue with you about it, no, I think it's still the approach to take because of where they are. This thing has not turned around. People want to declare it turning around. And we need to see evidence of it, like tangible evidence. And you know, one and two with two games that you're like, you know, you could have one, one of them, you should have one. That doesn't leave me feeling like things are much better.
So there is more that they need to do before they can really start to earn, to earn the respect of saying this thing is heading in the right direction. So I think you're, I think you're, it's fair to do all of that. And you know how they could have won the argument for you. So there's no conversation. I pulled it out on Sunday and then we're having conversations. They want to offer that. That's the difference. And they didn't do it. You can't finish three or four win team and say, but we were in every game. Well, you got to win some of these games. Go almost beat Chicago, almost beat Cleveland. No, that's enough enough. If you're, if you're in the fourth quarter and it's a winnable game against Chicago, win it. Clearly you got to do it against Cleveland. Clearly you got to do it against Miami. These are teams you should definitely be. But like I say, coming from a giant fan, the giants could have, if the giants won all the games they should have won, they would have been a 10 win team last year. Instead, they won four. Hello, Harbs on YouTube. That's what I've heard. Yeah. The football show with Jake and Mike, Mike Tanaba. Yep. YouTube. Oh, yeah. I believe that happened already last week. So when they have Gary, when Gary has like Jerry Jones on. Go ahead. Yeah, we're going to have Jerry Jones. We'll give him the link. That's right. Yeah, that's happening. But you tell Jerry. No, you're coming on YouTube. Yeah, Eli, you want to come on? Yeah, what? We need to fix this. We're not old timey radio anymore. No. On the phone. This is a media company. There you go. Media company. I'm the Jackie Fanson's 1962. Yeah, no, sorry. It's not the old time he did. I'm the Jackie Fanson, my TV. Yeah, he's not. God bless him. He's not FaceTime. He's not FaceTime in. He's not FaceTime in it. Well, somebody could do a forum.
That guy, when it FaceTime, that guy meant you getting in his face. You're all in out of it. You want FaceTime with me? Yeah, you don't want no FaceTime with me. You don't want that on sandwich. You don't want that evil. Let's go to Neil in the Bronx. You're on ESPN, New York. What's up, Neil? Good afternoon, D.A. Good afternoon. Good afternoon. Good afternoon. Why so formal? The Yankee Gollum. The Yankee Gollum put the law on the coffin on Boston tonight. Let's go. What's your last night's gang, guys? It hit me a little bit. It might be far stressed. But do you guys think we've probably started to witness the reincarnation of the Yankees Court for which Hitler, Lombard Rice, especially Jones? Well, we got to pump the brakes a little bit. No, no, no, no, go ahead. Neil, you'd be the first one to say in a minute. Throw it all. Let's talk about folpy. I'll listen. Relax. Come on. Folpy's going to be the Bernie Williams. Right. He's going to be the quaffet. He's going to be the Bernie Williams. Right. Let's break it down. Okay, let's break it down. Wait, I mean, I like this.
Fab five. I love where your head is still, okay? Schollitler. Clear. You know what this saw young this year. Sure. We got him. Rice. No, MVP candidate. Okay, we got where halfway. Okay, so what else? Spencer Jones. He's platooning in center field. So, and Lombard Jr. just came off having like six errors in six games. Oh, no, no, no. No. Three hits. Three hits. One guy, my, my, my, my, I'm guys at MVP candidate. And other guys are going to win a side. Young all of a sudden, now everyone let's all get giddy. Oh, well, Lombard, he, he's not there yet. I'm sorry. Did you know that. Did you not see his at bats last night? Did you hit? Did you hit? Did he, like, like, like a rookie? Clore four. He's fantasizing. We're having fun. Yeah, this is not a question. You should see my first shot. I'm wearing, are you, the clothes, every one? Yeah, hey the question is are there pieces in place? No could be those things yes, yeah, why not why not two of them are in place No two of us little errors gonna win the saw young MVP candidate that's those who are confirmed those are locked though these guys haven't even played a full season yet
Relax yourself Hey Schleller is technically not there even after winning a saw young we'll have to see how it ages I really see what happens right wait a minute the core four were guys that won championship They couldn't hold on all the ranks. They were junk. They were jingling and jangling. Did all of a sudden we got a new core four Why not stop it, but didn't the guy just say baby bombers didn't the guy just say it's what you like you could hope for it That's what he was hoping at all I get all for the match the one the world series next well Well, no, but there's that this there's actually there is as much a chance that the meds win the world series as these all these four guys turn out to be You'll Jorge Posada Andy Pettit this director and Mariana Rivera. Yeah, that's even on That's the one got even on missing the closer right now. We got to find out. Oh, I know it is Lagrange He'll be the close. This is gonna be so much fun With old air and if I had to bet it's all gonna work out for you because it always does that's okay That's the one thing you know is a new and you will be complaining every second of the way can the crime cashman like
Drawed quartered right in the Bronx right right cash be eighty years old building this team and we'll still run him out. I'm serious I get that's that's how it's gonna be that's the relationship. It's almost funny now Love to hate that's what we do but dream about the next iteration of Manthal and Maris and I've been thinking about the history of this franchise. I just didn't knew that murderers row We've always had something with the errors of this team other than of course that part that we don't talk about which was called the 1980s but This group that you saw last night and the way they played It just sparked something in fans. It said you know what inside of you maybe There's like a new generation that we're seeing the beginning of because you know why done here's why because we know what it looks like Because you've seen it before but still that's bad those four guys were special. Yeah, all right, mm-hmm And right now it looks like you might have two guys I like it. I don't know it appears what was going to be long term
Well, it's lit. It looks like he's a keeper and he's gonna be great. All right, but hey Two years ago we'd be talking about Volpe being a core four of a sudden he's not even a shortstop anymore That's basically a second base is a second base now. That's what I'm saying like so it could be the future when he was in a grand slam In the world series against the Dodgers, you know, Neil could have called and said do we have our new core four? What was the four then though? Oh, there was no four then there's only one well, it's so funny that we're talking about the core four So what's judge just He's gonna be the old guy D.A. Judges gonna be Judges the Wily old Judges done maddenly on the 95 team I'm telling you I'm just telling you I'm just telling you I'm prepared you imagine a story though Don think about that story We're gonna win it for him. I'm gonna know this this group of kids that grew up in the shadow of judge And judge gets old and now all he can do is D.H. He can barely get around the basis This is what's gonna happen, but these kids are like we're winning it for him I've been judging it long enough to know exactly what's gonna happen
And I'm gonna put my head through that glass when it does what's hopefully I survived what's that Yankees when the world series judge doesn't play an inning First phone call celebration a raid. There we go. David Westchester. You're on ESP Yeah, I don't what do you think we can get for judge? Oh, trade us. We just want a championship without we don't need them trade We could trade them get some prospects. Let's do it. By the way, he's not wrong. No, he's not wrong We'll have the way I'm doing my happen tonight. There might be three heads through that class It will be yeah, that's not gonna be that gonna wait for the parade if they win it on a Tuesday first call on Wednesday Yeah, where can we get the judge Well, they judge didn't the giants want them 99 my eight All right, I like my fantasy better. I'm just telling you both can be true Your fantasy's gonna happen because they're gonna trade judge for prospects because they don't even include them in the core four He's already dead. He's already dead is they win it for him and they celebrate him and they will
I don't share I don't just this wonderful story. Yeah, I love it. Oh my god. It's gonna be so much fun. Oh, it's gonna be terrific What is it like 20 20 20 probably like 20 28? 29 that's probably not it. They probably it'll all click that by the way. I was just joking Elymeaning is a guest of You know what he better see him if I see a picture still photo of Eli I'm not done. Yeah, you're walking right out So you're saying if they say Eli will need you on video and he goes yeah, that's not gonna happen You say you two rings and get walking I would you like to step it first of all is He like of course he lies on video 24 hours a day apparently because every time I turn on a TV I see him in a commercial or in a promo or something the guy is not a shy from a camera. Oh not a shy So if you tell him hey click this button and you'll be on camera and he says I don't want to be I'm calling BS Thanks for listening to a Don Han and Rosenberg podcast.
