This is Don, Hanne, and Rosenberg. On ESPN, New York, the MSG network, and streaming live on YouTube. And music on the Harry front. Three o'clock of the big city, Donneon, and Rosenberg. Your giant fan doesn't matter if the sun's out, raining, whatever. It's just not a good day. Adam Schaefter just tweeted this out. I'm sure you heard it with Jake, but for the audience. Do other people who tune in just for the HR though, or just to happen to tune in in the
three. I don't think there are people. I think people listen all day. But for our audience on MSG, breaking news from Adam Schaefter, further testing today revealed Giants, quarterback Jackson, Darts, Knee is worse than initially thought, and the team and Dart now are facing the possibility of season ending knee surgery, resources to tell ESPN of all the quarterback injuries suffered a week to. Darts is turning out to easily be the most significant. So, you know, the rollercoaster of emotion last night from somebody saying that they saw a trainer mow the words, the John Harboh, four to six weeks. The Jordan Ronon's information that actually made the broadcast, that it looks like it's not as bad as initially thought to now getting this news guys, that what you saw from Jackson Darts this year might be it. It's a gut punch. It really is. I don't know how to put it any differently.
Now, I think James Winston will play better than he did last night. Can't play much worse. He just did look like he was ready or completely ill prepared to play. Which happens when you have a young quarterback learning a new system and have to get every snap with the ones that James probably just didn't spend enough time with these guys in a shortened camp and only three preseason games and early in the season. But listen, James Winston's nice quarterback. He's not Jackson Darts. So, I don't know what this season is going to be guys, but if he ends up being done for the season, it's not going to be what we thought. Let's take a moment, Alan, if we can. And just go through because our first time on the air since it all happened last night. Because the play, it was a bull rush obviously. You knew it didn't look good from the second the play started. Your odds didn't look good. And Alan, just Don and I were just talking, we were walking to the studio about how I was saying what made Tom Brady, Tom Brady, is that Alan, you know, on that play,
what he's doing, he ain't jumping and throwing. He is kneeling over and just getting pushed to the ground. He is taking and I don't expect Jackson to be Tom Brady. I don't expect anybody to be Tom Brady, but Jackson Dart did what a lot of young quarterbacks would do. Tries to make something out of the play. He jumps in the air and his tray acheman is stutately pointed out last night. The fact that he was in the air is probably the reason his leg wasn't broken in half because the two, the two guys met at his leg. So in some ways, maybe the athleticism benefited him. But Alan, I don't know what your reaction was. You know, I'm sitting there as a commander fan having seen what happened to my guy the day before and I literally, Natalie's like on her phone not paying attention. Just hears me like, oh God no, God no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, and then they show it again and go to commercial and I'm thinking, oh my God, to this kid just get his ACL torn. What is this? And then when you see him limping off the field Alan and Don, that started to be like the beginning of maybe it's not that bad. And then the giant seemed to
make everyone continue with that narrative by making him questionable to return. So you thought Alan that maybe it wasn't that bad. Did you think there was a chance we would find out today could be season ending? Yeah, I did. I did because I saw the way the knee moved. That like the bending in both directions just a bit. There's one thing on the expert in because it's happened. I know I know knee injuries. I've lived them several. So it's when you see it, you know it and you get that. Say anybody that's had like a massive knee injury, you get this feeling in your gut when you see someone else have it. It happened to them and you just you know the feeling. You'll never forget it. But what happened in LA last night? And the result of it being the giants losing their the franchise quarterback that they're hoping that Jackson Dart is. And a lot of excitement and hope for the season kind of was swallowed up in that moment. The giants got jumped last night. They were bullied by a pissed off team that came back from
Australia and barriston mad. And the giants were going to be the punching bag because you saw it. They made it a point to not oh I mean they were they were getting everybody at the dart. And they were going to prove something because they know the giants are what giants want to win the line of scrimmage. They want to be a bullied team and they got bullied. And as a result of that dart got absolutely obliterated and it's now going to you know it'll be seen how long he's going to be out for. But it's on the table as Chef. He said that surgery that would end his season is on the table. If it is as bad as now all of a sudden it seems. The kid wanted to play. That that that's why I think they kept everything questionable because the way he was reacting in the back. Give me back out there. I'm fine because he's he's built like that like the type of person he is. But it's it's just it frustrated me because the giants were not ready to play that
game last night. It started there guys. Well there's a bunch of things to play. First of all he's a young kid. It drenelands pump in Monday night football. Of course he wants to go back out there. Yep. And then you get on a flight. You fly five hours home. You get the MRI and then you discover that it's worse than it was. Like so there's the reality of the moment. Like hey it wasn't that bad of a limp. He wants to get back at the game because probably didn't hurt that bad. He figures I can make it work. I can do something here. But then you you stiffen up five and a half hours on the plane and then it probably is killing him. And now the medication starting to wear off and then going to the MRI and you find out all right there's a lot more damage than we thought here. So there's that. We talked after the game against Dallas. How close this team is. Record the cut that we played last week about how guys don't want to leave the facility. They want to hang out. They really care for one another. Well you see your leader go
down. It's going to affect you. I mean, Cam scatable look like he was having spasms on the sidelines. I'm being serious. Yeah. He looked completely lost. So there is that gut punch for a team that we just lost Jackson. Yeah, maybe it's not that serious, but he's not coming back in. And then I'm sure they start getting wind of things and listen, Alan, if you know what it's like to have any injury, I'm sure half the guys on that sideline, of course. No, it's like to go through that type of injury or see it. And then you got the Rams who are, you know, licking their wounds from last week in Australia and you heard it from McVey how he took the L for the decisions they made on when they traveled to Australia. So it ended up being a perfect storm. How that game would have turned out had Jackson Dart not gotten hurt. I still think the Rams win the game because I think they're the better team. It might not have looked like that. But that had to be a gut punch on the first on basically, you know, the first series of the game. You lose Jackson Dart, you find out he's not coming back Winston's skipping rocks. I mean, he looks like completely lost.
They had the feel on the sidelines. We're going to get killed. Our quarterback is not ready to play. Our starting quarterback just left probably not coming back. This Ram team looks angry and good. Yep. You know, and it just ended up being a perfect storm. I will see what it looks like. Giants have some winnable games, even with James Winston is just starting quarterback. But I don't know how to judge how the rest of that game went considering what they had to go through on that first series. That was what I mean about how they were not they were not physically ready for what the Rams were bringing. But do you think do you really think the game wasn't a continue on that exact trajectory if Jackson kept playing? Remember on the play, you got first of all, they're a midfield on the play. Yeah, that would have been like an amazing play at 25 yard gain. By the way, he almost caught it. It should have been. It should have been. That should have been them in field goal position already. Yeah, he should have caught that. So I mean, I just, you know, I'm not trying to remove the fact that they were generally bull rushed in this game and that shot. They're probably going to lose.
And Sean McVay had his team. We said, remember, we talked about this on Friday. Sean McVay is coming off of his his old pal just making a fool out of him in Australia and has to own the fact as he did last night that it was his stupid travel plans that cost his team. We knew they were going to come with a chip on their shoulder. However, I feel strongly that if dark plays that entire game, it doesn't play out the way it did. I do not think they would have felt like they were never in the game. Well, that's the thing is a staffer was keeping in the game. They were still even though they only had six points. There was a point the second half feel like if they could just get one here, that's a very striking distance, but they just, yeah, I, I, I, I, James wasn't ready. I don't want to, I don't believe that's James Winston. I think there was something else going on with him that one day because we know he has no filter. He'll explain. But that, I mean, when have you ever seen him just throw one into the ground? Well, can't that be as simple as, you know, this is Jackson Dart learning the new offense and is getting all the reps. There have been the gang and James
just been hanging out watching and being the funny goofy backup. Now, now they're going to have James up all night every night this week, truly getting into this playbook to be ready. I don't think and Dave was talking about this on the morning show. And I think he's right. People were calling up, trashing James Winston. No, yes. No, you know, he was on the internet saying he sucks. No one felt that way last year. This is you watched him play last year. You do not. Last November, he almost beat the Lions in Detroit. If you remember, he played gray nagging. Yeah, he, he, he'll be out. So enough. It goes. He'll be fine. Normally, this backup courted back. It's maybe 10% of the snaps during the course of the week. Darts got to get the majority of them. If not all of them because he's learning a new offense. He's a kid. He's only, he only started 12 games going into that contest last night. So and maybe listen, that happens. The backup court, I just doesn't, doesn't have it. And now, unfortunately, the giants have a short week. But fortunately, they've got some winnable games here, even Winston is the quarterback. And I think it'll look better. And there's still a chance that this team can do some things. But aside from the injury,
they've got to do something with this defense, man. There's too much talent up front for them to have one sack through two weeks. Now, they did wreak a little havoc against that. But they didn't sack them. They sack Stafford and Garbodge time in the second half yesterday. The second there, I know it's banged up, but they got lit up. I mean, Devon, they Adams. I mean, they were talking about it because I had the lot. They'll pop up and and banks were talking about it. I was driving back from the double game, listening about, you know, this is the guy that torched them when he was in Green Bay a decade ago. And he's got a hundred and ninety five yard receiving a due touchdown. You almost wondered, guys, two of darts stayed in the game. And it became a little bit more dangerous with the Rams have emptied up more and maybe scored more points. I mean, they were getting chunk yards 19, 20, 20 when yard games that that touched down to make it 28 to three. I think it was or excuse me, it was 20, 28 six at that time. I think they scored a touchdown five plays. It's like bang, bang, bang, all of a sudden, there was a touchdown. So there's a lot of things to get to get cleaned up.
They got to get to the quarterback, but really, there'll be time to kind of dissect everything as far as decisions that were made and overall what's wrong with this defense. But you know, if this ends up being a reality to Jackson, darts done for the season. There's a lost season. And then now we go into next year with a quarterback that still has not played 17 NFL games yet and trying to give him back to snout. It's just it's such a gut punch guys. It just really is. It's what happens to this season and what happens to Jackson dark? Like how does this stunt his growth? And how is he held back in the future after an injury like this? Yeah, I just I'm very curious to where Giants fans are today. And we can obviously speak to you. One hundred nine, nine, three, seven, seven, six, because I know that I feel probably similarly today. It is a this league man. And I was texting this to the group last night for as much as I love this sport. And it is just like the most absolutely watchable product at its best that exist in sports in this country.
Alan, in some ways, it's just the worst man. It's just your whole thinking get flipped upside down in two friggin seconds. And at this moment in time, we don't know what the result is going to be for Caleb. It seems it seems like an order at this moment. As of these most recent tweets we heard, it would probably be Caleb's in the best spot. Then maybe Jaden Daniels and then now Jackson Dart. If it turns out to be the severity of this knee, but regardless of the time for each one, that is Chicago, Washington and New York with these incredible explosive must watch quarterbacks. Young quarterbacks who are all now on the sideline before we get to week three. It's just yeah. And yet and yet somehow guys. And I know this is where giant fans concerned. We can all certainly relate. There are these other teams who manage to every year. It seems get through 17 games. Just winning game after game like whether it's Buffalo or Kansas City or Philadelphia or Baltimore.
They generally just go through 17 games with their team in order. It's really a wild wild sport. Yeah, it is. But you just talked about Tom Brady and how he always made the right decisions. Didn't put himself in the tough spot until 2008 came around and week one, you know, tears up his knees done for the season. It's going to happen. That's why Joe borrows got in hurt. Yeah, Joe borrows. All right. Like it's the homes was hurt last year. But late. And there's a guy. But there's a guy that never would get right. He never got hurt. Like it does happen. It sucks that it's in major markets of, you know, young quarterbacks. Super watchable quarterbacks. Super love to watch guys. It's two weeks in and have we had five starters go down, right? Kyle Murray on his first series. Sam Darnold in his first first series. Those two guys were gone in a blink. Yeah. And then little by then each one after that. Like we saw this week. It is just part of the battle of attrition at the NFL is that's why having a stable backup
quarterback is a real thing in the NFL. And it's an investment you now have to make in this sport, especially now with the extra game. So and James Winston is considered one of the better backup quarterbacks in the league. That's why they pay him what they pay him. That's why jet fans were saying maybe the jet should sign James and make him quarterback one. Look how good he was last year when he had to play. So like this is a test now for an organization of, do you have the right guy and backup? And is he ready to go last night? He was talking to himself. That tells me he wasn't right. I got to get right. I saw him say that on the side. I got to get right. Okay. We'll get right. Yo, it's your team to be ready. And I believe he will be because he's that kind of guy. Yep. Yeah. We'll definitely see. And I don't want to get into them. Sure. We're going to get into the conversation is Jackson Dart injury prone. That wasn't an injury diving hit first or a bad decision. You see all these quarterbacks get hurt. This is the NFL guy's line. I got over run. That's all that was this is the NFL. But we were growing up. Quarterbacks got hurt. But you know what? Our backup quarterback was really good because there was no salary cap and big market teams can pay
tons of money to a back of quarterback. But it's sort of, but I got to put it. Let me push back on this and I'm saying the same thing about my guy too. So, so I'm not picking on Jackson. But this is like the fight you and I got into with Andrew gun link about Carson Wentz back in the day. And him arguing he's not no, he's not injury prone. It's just a freak. It's this one's a freak occurrence. Freak occurrence. It's like how I feel about judge at times. You add up enough freak occurrences and it's injury prone. But that is what the argument is. Yeah, but I'll push back even further to say, well, you know, we talk about injuries or he had the concussion. He's gone into the protocol a couple of times. He's gone into the tent. Not all the times he went into the tent that he had a concussion. And a lot of that was, you know, a kid just making poor decisions diving head first, not living to survive into the play. This was just a quarterback dropping back trying to make a playing and sacked and sandwiched his offensive line didn't protect them. That's the game, right? That's how guys get hurt for sure. If he had blew out his knee, not running out of bounds and trying to get an extra yard, I'd say, you know, this is the issue with Jackson Dart.
Let's drop him back and hit. Now, Jane Dangle's this is the third time his elbow has been a problem. Right. But well, no, no, third time. Because I can't always it got he landed right. And they said that was I think he's got an issue that he's got to get taken care of. Not not injury prone. He just he has an injury that needs the need to address. Right. You know, this is the first time he's had an injury that we're talking about a need. This is not a concussion. This is not him going into the tent. This is this happens to quarterback. But the problem is when you're a franchise making decisions about how long we, you know, do we want to reassign someone? Do we want to bank our organization on someone? Regardless of what the kind of injuries are, at a certain point, you have to look at how available they are. You know, Eli Manning probably, and I this will, you know, say what you want is my opinion. I believe Eli Manning probably has less physical talent than both Jackson Dart and Jaden Daniels. But guess what? He was available every single week.
That and a clutch gene that's pretty unimaginable in huge spots. But talent wise, you know, I'm in his not the most talented quarterback all the time, but he was always able to be there. So you can build a team around someone when you know that they're available. And Eli was, I think, bright enough and experienced enough that on that play last night against the Rams, he would have sensed the pressure. Not tried to. He would have got to take it. Yeah, tucked in, tucked in cover. Or just threw the ball down into the ground. He did that a lot. That's, you know, that's the, survives, lived to fight another day. And that's because it wasn't like Eli was any, you know, stronger. I mean, I do think he fought through injuries. And I do think he had a gene where he just didn't let things. I'm sure there were time. I remember that shoulder injury. You know, seven. They thought he was going to miss weeks. He didn't miss a game. But there were times. He just didn't allow him to split himself in that situation. But this is the NFL. We celebrate plays like what Jackson Dart does. We celebrate the quarterback that hangs in until a very last second and gets folded in half as he completes a 50 yard bomb, not realizing that it's sometimes you don't get up from getting
folded. It's a hair from being your seasons. And you know what though, if I could add this though, because we're so focused on Jackson Dart and we should be because this is significant, is there were other things exposed about the giants last night that they need to address. That secondary is not, it's not good enough. Like they, you, you, you, and they know it. I don't think this is a, this is not breaking news to the giant. But they can still compete because they do have a really tough front. And you like what they look like for the most part. Again, I just think that was more about the Rams last night. I was a pissed off team. But if the giants still want to show their fans that hey, we're, we are building towards something. And if we don't have our quarterback, we still are trying to get better. That the noise about getting a guy like Joey Porter, Jr. is, it's got to get louder because their cornerback situation, that's a Matthew Stafford just picked that apart. They just kept getting the rookie hood. He found himself in
Devonte Adams all the time. I mean, it was like Taco Bell in the house. Whenever he wanted, he got it. But they need to get more pressure on the quarterback too. I was gonna say that. They've got the horses. They've got to get some reason. Haven't able to get there. That's what the price I paid for getting the picks reward. You were the loser in the picks. Although you guys can thank me for my luxurious jets pick this week. Because when you guys were going, well, what could go wrong with the chargers? And Jacob and I were in each other's ears going, I don't know, I could picture things going wrong with the chargers. And I told you I didn't like it. I know, but again, we had stats to back it up. The analytics. By around, I'd be like, I'd do it again. You know, Jim Harbaw was 11 and 1 against the spread teams in the division. It was the right pick. It was the team's fault. Oh, yeah. But I end isn't that always the case? Yeah, I always. But I, but the reason I was fighting with you guys was is that you were in some ways going against yourself. I heard Alan Allen is the one who all summer was like, I don't know about Justin, I heard the chargers. I don't know. They come out against Vegas and suck. And then you guys all go, it's a bounce back spot. I don't know if they have a bounce back. I should also know better than to believe in Mike. That's on me.
Right. So that's on me. You know, again, like, like, this is, I should know better. You absolutely right. I, I, I, I, everything I believe, no better. I love the Eagles. I would, that would have been wrong. Because I was fighting to try and out that. Well, that's why I felt bad that we ended up going bears. But it was Eagles or bears. They were both wrong. Two animals both failed. At least one had an injury to blend. Two animals. But, but, you know, I, it's tough out there. I think it'd be great if, if, if Ty's son comes into the studio one day and just bumps into you, like, walking by, and he just starts singing the clown show song. I was great with that. We're just starts doing all of our clowns. Clowns. Yeah. If he just starts doing that, clowns. Lewis. Yeah. I think really the bad guy in the scenario that you just described to us is Ty. And he didn't have to tell you that. Yeah. He wanted. He wanted. He really wanted to share that. All right. It's now time for the big blue report brought to you by King's Alliance. My mom would
always say, if you don't laugh, you'll cry. And it's that kind of day with Jackson, dark, possibly needing season ending surgery. But John Harbott did speak today. So let's hear from the head coach on an update from dark. This coming from the giants today. I'm not sure exactly what news or how anything's been stated. But right now, say, evaluations are are ongoing. We haven't got any final decision yet. We've learned a lot more. I wouldn't really want to share too much until until decisions get made. And that takes more than one person takes everybody involved. So when we know, you know, what direction we're going to have to go or go or whatever it might be, we'll announce that. But we don't have that yet. So I don't want to get out over our skis on that. I can't really respond every report that people make. We got to kind of work on our own timeline here. I speak fluent coach all the years I've been covering. I believe Alan does as well. They're just not ready to announce it. Yep. I mean, there's hit the laws.
You probably want to get a second opinion. There's so there's there's it's not like he's lying. There are there's extra things you need to get. But the information that shifter got that rap pork got is that season and in surgeries on the table. And when you're starting to have surgery, usually get a second opinion. Yeah. If they got to run by certain people, which is what happens on you and you certainly know this is once they know this is probably the outcome, they don't want to announce anything until they have the game plan all in place. Therefore, there's no questions to answer. When is the surgery? Who's doing the surgery? You know, how long? What's the recovery time? All that stuff? What's the exact injury? And how is it going to like all of those things are answered by the, you know, again, if they use hospital for special surgery, which a lot of the teams do, they'll probably be the ones that provide the exact menu of what's to come. And until you have that, you really don't want to just say, yeah, he's getting serious, but we don't know when.
Like, because you don't want to sound like you have no idea what's going on. So you wait to announce something serious. If it wasn't serious or something that was going to be a week to week situation, they would have said that by now. I don't want to be the prophet of doom here, but I'm telling you, they would have said that by now. Now, John was asked how big a blow would have be to lose dark for the season? I think that's a pretty self evident answer, isn't it? You know, it's an important position, obviously. That's pretty obvious answer. Just theoretically, I mean, we're talking, you're talking theory, I take it, Paul. If dark should have done anything differently. What was that? Well, I don't want to listen to this. There's, there's a couple of polls that ask the question. Oh, it could be the two. Just, John, we all know how devastating would be. We just want to hear you say it. Okay. So it's not like you're asking a question because you want you're curious to know the answer. You know the answer. You just need to hear it from him.
Right. That's why you ask the question. It's like a lot of times we're like, you, I've had, you know, I don't want to go off on again, I'm media stuff, but it's just, it just reminds me crazy. When you ask a coach a question like that and they go, you know, you know, what it is? I, but nobody cares what I think about it. They want to know what you think. So anyway, we're trying to get the quote. We're trying to get a sound by it. Exactly. He was asked if dark could have done anything differently on that. I don't think we're into that point right now. I'm not sure that he really could have stepped up in the pocket. In that case or not, we had it, you know, it's, I guess you could make you look at that and we'd look at that. But that's, that's not been what we've been focusing the conversation on this morning. What's he, what's he trying to get back in the game last night? I believe he was. I believe he was. Yeah. Okay, that was good answer. No, it was. And because you're right, you don't look like, I know, you got to ask it. But now's not the time to be wondering, could the kid didn't done something different? I guess he could have, but to me, that that wasn't reckless. Whatever he did was not reckless. No, he was trying to make a play,
you know, about to get killed, right? But my guys open. And he would have made the play. And if he had survived it, we'd be praising him for the courage to make the throw and how great he is, how athletic he is. Just unfortunately, 280 pound guys decided to have a meeting at his lower body. That was vicious. That was vicious, by the way. Now, the other thing is about James Winston. So John Harval, what's your level of faith in your backup quarterback? Absolutely. Faith in all of our players, you know, it's that's why all the guys are here. And James is one of our guys who obviously is here for a reason. He's a very good football player, but that would go for any position, any player on our team. They would be the next person. injuries in the national football, you're part of it. And that's in any position. It's we had, you know, Tay Banks was out this last game. That was tough. You got to find a way to
overcome those those kind of things and and and play through it because guys come back and it's a long season. Yeah, what I want to know though is and I had faith in Winston too, is what was last night about them? Is it because of a lacquer reps? Was he not prepared? You know, what was it that this guy that we've seen play and play well come in and just look completely ill prepared? It was just not a good performance. Not that it, you know, he would have expected to go out there and win the game. It's very difficult. But any backup quarterback at this league, especially now, has to be ready at any moment. You become the starter and you got to be ready. You got to know the game plan and he just did not seem like he had it at all. So I'd like to know from John was that a one off what exactly was that? And are you confident that you're going to see something completely different for the foreseeable future because now he's the starting quarterback. So if he's got a play like that, they've got no shot at all. I think it plays like he played
last year at times. I think this team can still be very competitive and might be able to salvage the season. But last night was not a great indicator of that. I am predicting that we're not going to see that version of James. I think again, I thought he has he has I think he's built up enough credibility as a quarterback. I know he's got a goofball and he did a lot of stuff. He did the US open. He did the World Cup. Like I know we saw him in different places, but you know on the field, he's serious. He's got talent and we saw it last year. He just to me looked like somebody that stepped in and was like, Oh man, like these are reps I haven't been getting. Now listen, in a perfect world, you're going to get them now in a perfect world. You're a long time veteran backup. Would you know, in spite of that lack of reps would have done better than he did last night. That's ideally what you're going. Of course. But I do think you have reasoned believe based on his body of work that it won't be that what would kill you was they had an opportunity to put seven on the board and he literally just threw it to the other team. That was a brutal moment that basically
that sucked the life out of the Giants team. So clear. Yeah. While that was the big blue report brought to you by King. So why and King. So why and best slider in football. Let's hear from you. One hundred nine one nine three seven seven six. And let's talk to many in flushing. You get to start it here on Don on a Roosevelt. What's up, man? I'm good guys. How y'all doing good? Good. Well, the way before I get to the Jackson dot ball book. By the way, happy related young couple of Peter by. Also happy birthday to on Drilla. Bob Lee, the the Italian opera singer, the on Drilla. I'm a guy. I can't find out his last thing. Well, on Drilla. I'll move on. But she'll be chilly. But she'll sure. Yeah. Yeah. Big listen to the show. Yeah. 58 years old. About a little while. Yes. Yes. Yeah. I want to talk about the Jackson dark thing. When I read chapters report about like season ending. I mean, I was like, oh, here we go. No, here we go again. I mean, that's the, I mean, that's the honest. He's a pretty
much an injured phone quarterback. I mean, you know, we've been discussing it for the last two years. If that, we, if that we're talking about his game. We're talking about more of his help. I mean, if you're the judge, is either right guy will lead you to the lead you to the future. Well, but what did this injury have to do with the previous injuries that he had when he seemed reckless? He wasn't taking care of himself. Do you think that was the case last night on that play? No, no, sir. Yeah. So I think it's just one of those things, man. Quarterbacks do get hurt. So you say injury prone. That means that the guy is always in protocol. He's always unavailable. I, I, there was a couple of times last year. He took some hits to the head. There was a game against the Bears. He went into the tent and there was no evidence. He even got hit man. Yeah. All right. This is the first, correct me if I'm wrong. This is the first injury to any extremity to where he's going to be out for any length of time. So hey, I'm not going to sit there and argue injury prone, whatever, what's your definition? Because he's been hurt a bunch of times. Is it having the same injury over and over again? I wouldn't even go as far as to say.
Jane Daniels is injury prone. He just has an elbow that's prone to injury and he needs to get that fixed. Right? You know, I, according back early in his career like this, it's unfair to put labels like that on them because because you don't what you he's still figuring it out. He's not four years in. He's in year two when he didn't play a full season yet. He's still trying to figure that out. He is going to learn and I'll give you another example of a great Giants quarterback that was quote unquote injury prone. That was full sense. He could not stay on the field early in his career. Constantly got hurt. And then he lost his job and he had the fight to get it back. And then when he got it back, he became one of the great quarterbacks in Giants history. So hopefully this is just the footnote and what's going to be an amazing career. But I don't want to put a label on it. Guys get hurt. Quarterbacks especially. And it just it stinks. But I don't know on that particular
play if I can fault his decision make. And if there's anything he could have done a little bit better, I sure would have come with experience. And unfortunately he's going to lose a year of that if he indeed has to be out for the year. Let's go to Emily. She's out in LA. The scene of the crime. You're on ESPN New York. What's up Emily? The scene of the crime indeed my friend. How are you? Last time I called in last time I called in it was about there's a much lighter topic we were discussing travelers that I really yeah that's right. Yeah usually doesn't keep you out for the year. I thought I'm sure Jackson Dart would much rather have that. Yeah you were not here for that call. Don I miss you. I just today is the day where you wake up and you're like why can't New York have nice things? This on top of Aaron Judge news. We have to sacrifice a lot Emily for the next to win a championship. It must be true clearly. I think that's what's happening. Was it worth it?
Absolutely. I do it again. But that's if you're a Nick Yankee. I am fan. It might be worth it. Right. It might be worth it. It might be worth it. Well because you've already seen the other two wins. I mean that's true. But I think what's what I am hoping for is I mean I like of course you want to like win some games and not have a completely embarrassing season. I agree with James wins and that was a we've seen James wins and me James wins and we're still for over 300 yards but then like three interceptions last night was just bad but you couldn't really ask for a better guy to be in this position in terms of like vibes and lots of room. You know what I mean? I think he can I think he can keep the vibes up and also like the scataboo as well but you just kind of hope that this doesn't kill the culture because I think that's been aside from the talent we have now that's been kind of the most exciting thing about this team is it just feels different. Well Emily that's why you that's
why you have John Harboh so that doesn't happen. You know what I mean? Like you have an experienced coach who should be able to experience coaches by the way on this coaching. Who should be able to recognize and handle that part of it because it's a good concern to have right like all there's a great vibe and and there's something about that kid that you could tell the team responds to but that's why you get a John Harboh because he can now navigate you through this. That's what you want to want to see him do. He's been through injuries. He said quarterback's get hurt. He's had to play through that. He's got to do it again. Yeah and they're very fortunate in the sense they've got some winable games coming up here. Home games against the Titans and the Cardinals and have Winston plays better and they win and they're three and one going into that commander's game and you can get everybody back they'll rally around them. They'll become a feel good story. Right. If he plays the way he plays and God forbid lose one of those games to the Titans of the Cardinals the wheels could come off. Wheels could completely come off on the season. So they've got a little bit of a soft landing over the next
couple of weeks. Possibly we'll see if the commanders have Jaden Daniels in that week five game. We'll find out although Marioda I think is a really solid backup quarterback but at least over the next two games home games against Titans and the Cardinals get the three and one. You want to keep it on the rails. That's the best way to do it. One hundred nine one nine three seven seven six. The phones are loaded up. Talk about a Tuesday at 430. E and N at six. Take a little seven o'clock on Don Hanna Roosevelt. Yes, be in New York. It missed you. And it's Alan Hahn here. I've been dealing with some pain, some light back pain, but I became a patient of Dr. J. Shaw at Samwell Pain. Dr. Shaw's Ivy League trained. He's double board certified. He has a focus on non-surgical image guided treatments. So him and I discussed the images the other day. I got some stuff going on guys. We believe the path forward here is going to be physical therapy and exercise. I'm probably going to avoid doing anything else right now. However, explaining we all the different things they can do without any sort of surgery, it's pretty amazing. Really, really cool stuff they're able to do without anything being too invasive, whether it's bad pain, neck pain,
sciatic, a nerve pain or joint pain. Don't just push through it. There are offices there to help you. Woodbridge Livingston, Englewood, go to SamwellPain.com and book your appointment online. I do think that the Jackson Dart thing might be beyond, you know, just physical therapy and exercise or PRP. I think they're going to have to do something. Sounds like they're going to have to go in there. Well, we haven't gotten official word yet, but everything is pointed to it. In case you joined us late, as reported by Rappaport and Shephther and even the news from John Harball didn't knock it off the table about the possibility that there could be season ending surgery. Before I get back to the phone calls, though, guys, I want to just get your knee jerk reaction to this. We were watching the game. Word got out that Joe Shane said it looks like it's not that bad. If he ends up needing season end surgery, that's a really bad look. Did he say it doesn't look that
bad or is it he's going to be okay? I thought it was, I thought that was, God, I can't think of our name, the sideline reporter. Yeah, Laura Rutledge. I think she said he said he's going to be okay. I don't think it was anything. I want to be able to get the exact, yeah, because it caught my attention too that she said I just, I just saw Joe Shane and he said I think he's going to be okay. Yeah, he's going to be okay. He's going to be okay. Yeah. Well, I mean, I'm sorry, that's still a bad look. Why? Yeah, you can't go out. You can't tell a reporter on a broadcast that he's going to be okay. And then less than 24 hours, it's announced that he might be right season ending surgery. Be done for the year. That's bad. To be fair, to be fair to Joe, if the kids saying I'm fine, I want to play and they're saying, I don't know, we got to take, no, I want to play. I'm fine. I'm fine. Like Joe might see like this guy like is trying to convince the doctors that he's fine. So I think he's
going to be all right. Like he's not, he's not, he's not crying. He's not complaining. I understand. But you make a case to come back in the game, but you know, he shouldn't say he hasn't gotten an MRI yet. Yeah, he shouldn't say. Even if he just said, I think he's going to be okay, but obviously we're going to have to look at it, check it out. And if he's misquoted, he's misquoted, that's a different story. Yeah, but you just can't say he's going to be okay. Deem is saying, think he's going to be okay. That's bad. And I know we love our coaches and our general managers and our players to talk to us and give us information, but I know you're pro and Joe's probably just like hoping, right? But you can't, you can't have that out there as part of the process for the fans and people watching the game and going, you go to bed last night thinking, I think he might be okay. Joe, Joe Shane said it. And and when, and obviously when I went to bed, because I had to get up early with the kids and everything, I was listening to the post game show and they're talking about what Joe Shane told the SPN. Yeah, that he's going to be okay. So it's being used as information. Right. And it could turn out to be
misinformation. That's bad job. General manager shouldn't do that. Yeah, he shouldn't have done that. Now, I, I think sometimes you get emotional like when Tom Brady swore on the air that like, but you got to be more buttoned up, man, you're a general manager in New York. People listen to what you say. Yeah. They, they gather information. You're giving, you're misleading your fan, but it's a bad, that's a bad look. Very, very unprofessional as far as I'm concerned. Let's go to Barry. He's out now. You're on ESPN, New York. What's up, man? Hey, guys, thanks for taking the call. Guine fans since the men did hall days. Okay. And I think, I think there's a problem that, you know, James Lincoln, I think, was, was brought in because he had a great relationship with dark. But for what I look at, you know, he runs a completely different offense, you know, he's a dropback, quarterback. He looked terrible, you know, taking the handoff like dark does. And in terms of dark, I mean, he's not injury prone. I love dark, but he is a guy that you're, you're, one of his
attributes right is that one and that run puts him in danger. He doesn't have a huge body. I don't think you mentioned Sims. Well, in the second year when Sims got hurt, he, he had a whole interview, which I remember way back where he said, I got to hit the gym. I got to lift weights. These guys are big. These guys are bigger than I thought. I thought I was strong. These guys are way stronger. I mean, if dark's going to put himself in those kinds of situations, he doesn't have a Josh Allen body. So he's going to get creed. And the fact that he gets up and walks away from it, that's okay. And giving James Winston, you know, a backup quarterback who doesn't run the offense, Maggie runs, is going to be another problem. Are they going to, are they going to make Winston adapt to the offense? Or are they going to change the offense for Winston when you have an offense of the line that can't protect the guy to let the routes. Well, they're going to put together. Now they got a short week, unfortunately, Barry. We got to go because we're up against it.
But they're going to, just, Alan said it earlier, this is why you have John Harball. All right, they'll put something together. You know, Nagyle put it together, Roman, the design plays in a system that'll work for Winston. It's unfortunate that the short week, but you do have the Titans, but you know, they almost be Philly. So be careful. But they'll, they'll work it out. They'll, they'll try to figure something out. You want what you saw last night is the worst of James Winston. I think we'll see a lot better as we move on. No two football players are exactly alike, and the same is true off the field. That's why State Farm gifts to know you so they can help personalize coverage for your life and budget.
