This is the Don Han and Rosenberg podcast. That sounds like heaven to me! Listen live weekday afternoon starting at 3 on E80 ESPN, the ESPN New York app, and your smart speakers. Hi Don Han and Rosenberg, it's just me now Han Solo with you. For the remainder of the show, we take you up to 7 o'clock, you'll get on MSG, you'll get Devil's Rangers Preseason Action. Here on 880, and ESPN New York,
you will get Dan Grasse from 7 to 9. Of course tonight is Monday Night Football on ABC, and ESPN, and it is the Giants in LA against the Rams, and covering that for us, is Jordan Renon, who's joining us right now, and I'm told Jordan, you're reporting from the field it's so far, are you not? I'm sorry, I didn't get that bad, I missed that. I was told you're reporting from the field, literally on the field. I am, I am, I am, so somebody had just walked by me, and I'm smoothing on the field. I like it. Second out was going on, making sure like, Deonte Banks doesn't sneak out here and start warming up, and looks like he's going to play, you know? All right, let's start there, man. What I did, let's start there, so Deonte Banks, for somebody that was questionable. What is the cornerback situation for the Giants going into this game? Yeah, they're a very short hand, that's a different one, right? I mean, two of their top three guys look like they're not going to play,
because Deonte Banks is questionable, but he didn't practice the previous two days, that usually pretends to a guy not playing in the game, and then Paulson Deba, who wasn't started, and one of the highest players on the team, was based on injured reserve rodents, which now he has Paulson Hood or Rookie stepping in as the likely starter there, and you know, this is the Rams offense, I want offense in the NFL, that's your, so that is a big ask for a Rookie to come in there. I don't, we don't know who can do this game, but it's who can win the tour, and Deonte Adams are playing, and you get Paulson Hood and Greg Nuson covering them. It's not the optimal match of three guys there. Yeah, next I was going to ask you out in Nakuwa, they were supposed to be working out on the field where you are. Jordan, on joining us right now from Sofai Stadium, literally on the field, this pregame warms are going on, so you still, there's no word on Nakuwa, but Adam Schepter was suggesting earlier in the day that it's unlikely he's going to play, have you seen anything? Yeah, nothing specific. I believe he's on the other side of the field going
through or doing a workout now, that was the plan, so they've got like another 20 minutes before they have to make the decision here, so I think it's going to come down to the last 20 minutes here, but yeah, Adam was hinting that it didn't look like he was going to probably be able to make it, which would, you know, obviously when you're, when you're dealing with the Giant's cornerback situation, that's not exactly a huge negative there for them. Yeah, it definitely helps, but as you mentioned, they still have Devonte Adams and others. The Rams will be unveiling the return of Aaron Donald. What's the Giant's plan when it comes to him and what is the expectation? Because a lot of thought of, you know, he's been out for over two years, is it a pitch count situation where the Giants are don't expect you're going to see him that much, but when you see him, he's always a scary guy to deal with. Yeah, when you asked the Giant's about them, they said they were going to treat him as if he was, you know, Aaron Donald, like, you know, they know what he was and I know he hasn't played in over two plus years, but they were talking to you, if you have to respect him, that if he's Aaron Donald from three years ago. So I think when he's out there, they're going to
know exactly where he is and makes a little bit easier when Miles Gafford is not out here for the Rams because he's now in reserve. Yeah, they'll, they'll be, you know, sending two guys every time Aaron Donald's on the field because not only, I mean, you have to understand what you're dealing with here. This isn't just a good player. And I know he has been two plus years since he played a game, right? Almost three years, but this is one of the best players of our generation here, right? That's how good this guy is. If he's 80% of what he once was, right? And he's still, it's one of, it's not the best player on the field. Like that's how good he was. So the Giants know that and they were very well aware throughout the week. The fact that he's going to play and play to some degree, even when they didn't know he was going to play, they were planning if he was going to play. Yeah, after joy or non-joining us right from the field, so by stadium for Monday night football, Giants and the Rams, I show you, tweet a little while ago, it's possible the Giants could have four
running backs active tonight. Will we see the debut of Najee Harris in a Giants uniform? Yeah, I think you should expect that. Najee Harris, look, what did the San Francisco 49ers do against this Rams team? They power Randleball down their ropes, right? Like that's how you, that's the recipe for success against the Rams. And that's what the Giants do. So Tyrone Tracy, obviously big fumble in the last game, I expect him to be active, but it'll be probably just as a special team and Najee will kind of slot into that role. So we're going to see the, I expect to see the debut of Najee Harris here and see him get some carries and add to that power running in that the Giants are trying to build. Now that's really the identity that John Harball wanted to bring here, right? It's establishing the line of scrimmage and running the football as much as you can with the depth that they have at that position. It's just keep running out fresh legs and wear out the opponent. We saw in the second half against Dallas. Dallas had the ball with twice in the second half of that game last week. Is that sort of the game plan they're trying to execute again?
Yeah, that's going to be the Giants game plan almost every week, but even more so when they're playing these high power and if we think about it, it's possible. The Giants are playing the two best offense in NFL and weeks one and weeks two. Right? That's true. Yeah. I mean, the Rampor number one last year, the Cowboys offense is a sign of might offense. So again, they did yesterday. And the reality was the Giants didn't stop them in the second half. They had the ball twice in score two touchdowns. Like, but if you're able to keep them off the field and control the classic, that's their recipe for success. Not only this week, but long term, I think. So you're going to see that if they win again today or if they want to keep this game close, that's what they're going to do. And so and they're not shy about it. Don Harball's the open ring saying that this is how they want to play and it makes perfect sense against this team image against the Cowboys and it's going to be, you know, be their plan going forward. Now Jordan, earlier in the show, Don and I were kind of debating the level because obviously opening night on Sunday night football against the Dallas Cowboys. I mean, that's that's the prime time as you can get. That's as marquee as you can get. And Jackson Dart played very well, but I feel like Monday night football just has a different level to it and it's in LA. Is Jackson Dart somebody like I feel like he's already showing us that he's got something about him that he likes the stage like this that he kind of looks forward to playing in front of the brightest lights and on the biggest stages. Have you seen that in him and do you expect to see that tonight? You do, first of all, I don't have it on me, but I was looking earlier. His QBR prime time games was like one of the highest in the NFL over the last couple
years. And you know, this is, this is kind of, if you look at his personality, all the things he's doing off the field, like he kind of likes this kind of stuff, right? This is who Jackson Dart is. Like he's not a guy who's going to shy away from the spotlight. He's not a guy who's going to duck it. Like he really relishes this kind of stuff. So I think he'll, he likes LA. He spent a bunch of time here. That's how he kind of knew Odell, right? Because remember, by the way, Jackson Dart, where did he start his college career in USC? Like that's where he chose. That was the first school he chose to go to because he wanted that spotlight. He wanted the big market. Like he wanted the glitzing rimer of LA. Like, so, you know, I, and that's why New York, I think, was a great spot for him. Where he wanted to land in the draft. He's made for these kind of situations and this kind of stuff. It seems to play into, you know, his persona and everything that he is. I'm told 114.5 is the rating you're talking about minimum of three starts in a prime time.
That's pretty good. That's not bad. That's special. All right, Jordan. Let's, I was talking with Jordan Rennon. He is on the field at Sofie Stadium pregame for giants Rams. Monday night football tonight. So he's calling us right there from the field and I'm going to do the sports talk radio thing now that you're very used to these days. And you can roll your eyes if you want, but I think you get it is tonight for the giants. A potential. I know it's week two. A validation kind of win because you do what you do against the Dallas Cowboys in opening, you know, opening night and have a big special night at the stadium and a coronation of the beginning of the Harbour era. But you go into LA and play a team that everybody thinks is eventually going to be playing in that same stadium. February 14th and the Super Bowl once they get all healthy. Now this is there's something to be said about going in there and getting a win and really setting a tone for what the giants have become or at least maybe turn the corner. Are you looking at tonight's game to see something like that? Yeah, absolutely. I think if they happen to win this game here, I think everybody is going to
look at you. You send their two or no wins against the Cowboys and the at on the road and the ramps in fine time. Both wins. People are going to look at them as well. This team is legitimate. Like this is like an ultimate validator for the guys. Now I think personally it's house money for them because they didn't go in even going one in one out of this, you know, first two games was kind of the win. We went over before and that was the goal, right? This win one of the first two games in your pretty good shape. So, but if you happen to go through and out and you look at the next four opponents, I mean, five and one if you've been in the ramps on the road and it's not out of the question. Four and two should be almost like seen like, okay, that's like a lot if you win this game. So, I don't think we know what the hype is even going to be like if they win this game. I think it's going to be the room, the room, even if they're competitive, I think people will buy into the diet and say like, the chips play off the tender and play off the caliber team. Now, I know LA and LA has a lot of New Yorkers in it. So, FI is a beautiful stadium,
but we know LA is not really a huge football town despite the success of the ramps. Do you already see a lot of New York fans or their giant fans in the building? Oh, yeah. I'm looking around right now in front of me. It's all giant fans lined up. I see a Lauren's Sailor, Jersey and Eli Jersey. A bunch of scataboo's actually that scataboo's family over there. There's a lot of scataboo's. Well, ironically, you'll think the scataboo's small, right? He's like five-nine. His dad is like six-foot-five. His dad is huge. He's like huge, huge dude. Completely stands out. But no, I'm looking across the field and I'm looking at, I think it's going to be 50-50 in the stadium. Giant fans and ramp fans. They told me yesterday because the farmers played the raiders. I remember the raiders used to be in LA. They're biggest, biggest is close. Even Oakland is a decent, not a terrible flight. They said it was like
75% raider fans here. I'll tell you the stadium in general. Yeah. The Kishan Johnson told me one time that in LA, this is how it goes football-wise as far as teams go. And he said it's basically USC, UCLA, then the raiders, then the ramps. He told me that. The raiders, even though they moved a million years ago, it's still there's something about it that culture, whatever it is, of raider nation still has stayed in LA all these years. So when they go and play in LA, they show out. So it's a real thing. But New York, as we know, I mean, I've been to many Nick Laker games and we know how big the Lakers are and the building is always filled with Nick fans and it sounds really loud. So it should be fun tonight. No doubt. I've been just remembered, think about it. The raiders are a national team in general. Even on the east, we have raider fans by up. Yeah. Let's go add that on top of it. But yeah, and I think
there's a lot of transplants around the country. This was like, if you look at the giant schedule, this is kind of the most desirable game. Oh, yeah. So I think I think there'll be a lot of giant standing. Yeah. Well, enjoy it. You are prime time as well, my friend. Thanks for giving us some time here on the field. Jordan Rennon. We'll talk to you soon. All right. This is a little thing I saw. Who could have out here earlier? I do not see him out here right now throwing with the red receiver. Doesn't mean he's not playing, but I do not see him at the moment. All right. Definitely something to watch. Jordan, thank you, my man. Appreciate you. Have a great show. All right. Well, Jordan and I get live from the field on the field at SoFi seating. Where else you get in that, folks? Only here. This episode is brought to you by Welch's Fruit Snacks. Crewed is on the LIE. Oh, so you're crawling along, aren't you? Yeah, I just got back, Alan, but I can't, man. I can't with this jet steam anymore. It's just it's so painful. We show up to fans. I was at the game yesterday. It was pretty electric, but you just know every time we get a silver platter game, it just never works out. And we're out there. We're screaming. We're in the corner. My shoes are still wet. We're doing all of it. I know. And then we, you know, as we leave, we just got to be disappointed. You can't have a day. Like that's what it
always feels like. I just can I just have the day. And I've always said the best part of a jet home game is the is the ticket. It's just because the game begins and you get that same feeling. And queer, I'm telling you, I'm locked in on this game because I'm feeling like I want to start to believe. I really want to see if this is things finally turning around. And it's third and third and one, and they don't get it. And it's now fourth and inches. And I'm going, they got to get this because if they don't, we all know what's going to happen from this point forward. And that to me is when I felt it in my gut, the minute they got stopped, I just felt it like that's it. This is we know the ending. I don't need to watch. I know how this is going to end. It's maddening. I just can't believe. I just can't believe that we have two opportunities to get the ball with the game online. Every universal coach in the world wants the ball with the game online. And we get two of them.
And we just know. Let's not do that. Let's just let's just take the loss. Yeah. It was mind boggling. Just another Sunday for us, Jeff. You know what? But you know what? We'll be back again. We we we because we can't help it. Yeah. Well, God bless. Oh, sorry. I don't know. I thought he was done. He sounded like he was exasperated because that's how a jet fan feels. Exasperate. And that's really all it is. It's not quitting on your team. It's not being negative. Like, oh, you're just you just want to live in your misery. No, you kind of understand. You just you keep seeing the same thing. So you recognize it at this point. Yeah, you know, like, you've seen enough horror to know. Oh, I already know what's on the around the corner. I know what's that. Moogie man's there. He's got the knife. I know exactly what's going to happen. Like, I'm not walking down those basement steps. I know what's down there. I've done this before. I'm a jet's fan.
Like, anybody that was coming at me yesterday, just because of that, I was frustrated. And the only I think of was, okay, and I thought I was being positive. I know it looks a little better, but jets going jet. Like, that's just how you felt. And until you can clean this thing, until you can just scrub it clean. And who's going to be strong enough to do that? Is Aaron Glenn the guy? Did that game was hard to say yes? Griffin in Connecticut. Hey, Griff. Hey, Alan. How are you? Good. You know, normally when you're on to, you can't make the playoffs. But I think there is one team that I want to might actually maybe be able to make the playoffs. And that's the taxes. When I look at all these O and two teams, I'm trying to find the one I think. What about the Colts? What about the Colts? Maybe the Colts. They say, help me.
Maybe them. You know, I mean, they've had two hardbreakers. They've had two hardbreakers. Yeah. Those are the two are the Falcons. They can't find the red zone. Me and you could find the red zone better than they can. The box. If you lose to the breads at home, I can't make the playoffs. You don't deserve the playoff. You're serious. The Chargers at home, you lost to the Raiders and the Cardinal. Yeah. And now you get the bills on the road. Congratulations. You get the bills from the Seahawks on the road the next two weeks. How about how how that going to go for you? Yeah, no, it's so and the dolphins are you know, they're done. They don't even try it. Yeah, they're not even trying. Right. They're often done in that assault team. Yeah. I think I think Houston because they're so good defensively, their offense is good enough, but their defense is really, although we say that and yet they give up points. But yeah, I think Houston and the Colts are two teams. They're both in the same division.
I would give them sort of this. I think they could. Yeah. Okay. If we had a run, thank you. Thank you for the call. But yeah, and look, it's early in the season, but for the Giants tonight's game is an opportunity to validate what happened in week one and maybe set yourself up for a new era that begins with John Harbaugh. Enjoy the game everybody. Dan Gras is next. We'll see you tomorrow. Thanks for listening to about Don Han and Rosenberg podcast. I don't want to know how the sausage is made.
